Goodland Regional Medical Center is proud to support our local schools and is now featuring an Athlete of the Week for both Goodland High School and Fort Hays Tech Northwest.

𝙒𝙚𝙚𝙠 𝙤𝙛 November 17th

Fort Hays Tech Northwest has selected Freshman, Lindsay Henggeler, for this week's Athlete of the Week. She is currently in the Cosmetology program and is a member of the women’s Wrestling team. Lindsay Henggeler, went 5-1 on Friday, placing 3rd at the Colby Dust Bowl Open. After losing her opening match, Henggeler would proceed to pin her next five opponents to take 3rd place. Of note, two of her pins were in less than 30 seconds, both of which set back-to-back school records for fastest fall. In addition to this, her five consecutive pins also set a new school record.

Goodland High School has selected senior Trent Sheldon for this week’s Athlete of the Week. He is involved in the Musical, and he was also a member on the football team. "Trent Sheldon balances athletics, music, and multiple other activities while maintaining his academics. His strong work ethics and time-management skills allow him to thrive in every area. Trent leads by example, motivates peers, and consistently demonstrates dedication, responsibility, and integrity, making him a well-rounded and inspiring leader”, Said Musical Director Randy Berls

Key emergency preparedness lessons from the March 2025 dust storm on I-70 were shared with health care professionals at KHA’s Rural Health Symposium. A diverse panel, including representatives from Goodland Regional Medical Center, Rawlins County Health, Citizens Health, Kansas Health Care Coalitions and the Kansas Highway Patrol discussed coordination among agencies, strategies for handling surge capacity and the importance of quick decisions with limited resources.

🚧 Scheduled Water Outage – Friday, November 21st 🚧

Please be advised that we will be experiencing a planned water outage on Friday, November 21st from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

Back in July, we repaired a leak in the water line. This scheduled outage will allow us to fully replace the line to prevent future issues and ensure long-term reliability.

If the outage extends beyond the expected timeframe, we will provide updates as work progresses.

💙 All patient care and community medical services will continue without interruption throughout this period. We remain fully equipped to meet every patient’s needs.

Lucretia Stargell and Allison Mulch were members on a panel for Emergency Preparedness in Action at the Kansas Rural Hospital Summit in Hays today.

They shared their experience with the hospital response to the March 14, 2025 dust storm and mass causality on I70. We appreciate the both of you and your willingness to share and educate.
