Goodland Regional Medical Center is proud to support our local schools and is now featuring an Athlete of the Week for both Goodland High School and Fort Hays Tech Northwest.

𝙒𝙚𝙚𝙠 𝙤𝙛 April 6

Fort Hays Tech Northwest has selected freshman Jaden De Souza as this week’s athlete of the week. Jaden is studying to become a Medical Assistant and is a part of the Track and Field Team. Jaden De Souza placed 2nd in the 200-meter dash at the Friends University Spring Invitational last week. His time of 20.76 seconds qualified him for Nationals and set a new school record, breaking the previous record by 0.19 seconds.

Goodland High School has selected Autumn Russell, Senior, as this week’s athlete of the week. “Autumn joined our team just this winter and was a great addition! She has shown her dedication and great work ethic to make sure she was ready to cheer on our teams. Her ability to accept feedback and be adaptable were assets to our team and will serve her well in her future plans”, said Head Coach Shayley Deeds.

We would like to recognize the outstanding work at Fort Hays Tech Cosmetology Department.

Today, Lucretia Stargell, CEO, visited for a manicure and had the pleasure of connecting with Jason Showalter, who was getting a haircut—an excellent example of the department’s strong community engagement.

Under the leadership of Christa Bergsman, the team of students consistently demonstrates professionalism, skill, and dedication. Shout out to Karen Moreno, a student-athlete, for her exceptional work and attention to detail.

Fort Hays Tech Northwest has selected sophomore Marquintex Dixon as this week’s athlete of the week. Dixon is a member of the Men’s Basketball program and is originally from Columbus, GA. He is studying Business Technology. Marquintez Dixon posted a 18-point, 10-rebound double-double in the opening round of the Region 6 Basketball Tournament against Independence Community College, helping them advance to the quarterfinals in a 76-74 win. Additionally, Marquintez has earned First Team All-Conference honors.
