Tea and a Truth Biscuit: Who Taught You to Need a Savior?
A barefoot moment at the Ho Chi Minh Communism Museum turned into a Wisdom Nugget about propaganda, programming, and the bullsh*t we teach children before they ever get to meet their True Self.
When David and I visited the Ho Chi Minh City Communism museum, we were greeted by a sea of schoolchildren.
Their teacher asked if they could take a picture with us, and these kids were so excited. Smiling. Waving. Curious. Open. Completely lit up by the simple joy of seeing two random travelers from somewhere else in the world.
And honestly? We felt so welcomed.
But as I stood there with those beautiful children, something else came into my awareness.
Holy sh*t, we start programming humans young.
Not just in Vietnam. Not just in schools. Not just in museums.
Everywhere.
We teach children what to think.
Who to worship.
Who to obey.
What to fear.
What to judge.
What to believe is “normal.”
What version of history to accept.
What heroes to celebrate.
What villains to condemn.
What systems to trust.
What parts of themselves to silence.
And most of the time, we don’t even call it programming.
We call it education.
We call it tradition.
We call it culture.
We call it manners.
We call it religion.
We call it patriotism.
We call it “how things are.”
But let’s be honest.
A whole lot of it is propaganda wrapped in a cute little backpack and sent to school with a juice box.
And before anyone gets their knickers in a knot, this is not me pointing a finger at one country, one government, one religion, one school system, or one political ideology.
This is humanity’s bullsh*t.
We have been doing this forever.
We teach children to look outside themselves for truth.
Find the hero.
Follow the leader.
Obey the authority.
Worship the savior.
Get approval.
Earn worthiness.
Be good.
Be quiet.
Fit in.
But can you imagine, just for one moment, what might happen if we stopped programming children to believe they need someone else to save them?
What if we taught them this instead?
You are already whole.
You are not broken.
You do not need fixing.
Your body is not wrong.
Your feelings are not wrong.
Your curiosity is not wrong.
Your wildness is not wrong.
Your True Self is not something you need to earn, achieve, or be granted by someone outside of you.
Can you imagine teaching children that they are their own guru?
Their own compass.
Their own Wisdom Wand.
Their own damn savior.
Because that is where the real revolution begins.
Not in another flag.
Not in another leader.
Not in another system.
Not in another shiny self-help f*cker selling salvation in six easy payments.
It begins when a human stops outsourcing their worth.
And what if we gave children that Wisdom Nugget from the beginning?
What if instead of burying them under generations of fear, shame, obedience, judgment, and bullsh*t, we helped them stay connected to who they already are?
That is the work.
That is Holistic Scaffolding™.
It is not about creating a better programmed human.
It is about shedding the programming entirely, one layer at a time, until the True Self can finally breathe again.
Because the children already know.
They know joy.
They know curiosity.
They know connection.
They know wonder.
They know how to light up at strangers without asking if they are worthy first.
Maybe the real question is not, “How do we teach children who to become?”
Maybe the real question is:
How do we stop teaching them to forget who they already are?
I love all you people.
