This week is National Condom Week, a time to highlight the importance of s*xual health in our overall well-being. Practicing safe s*x not only helps prevent physical health issues like s*xually transmitted infections but also supports peace of mind and reduces anxiety.

Open communication and safe practices help foster trust and respect in relationships, empowering partners to care for one another and themselves. Your s*xual health is deeply connected to your mental well-being—feeling safe, respected, and informed makes a significant difference. ❤️

At Balanced Mental Health of Arizona, our providers offer comprehensive support for every aspect of your health journey. Whether you have questions, concerns, or simply need someone to talk to, you’ll find compassionate, confidential care here for both your mental and s*xual health needs.

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. Healthy relationships are built on respect, trust, and open communication, and it’s vital for teens to recognize the signs of an unhealthy relationship—from emotional manipulation to physical harm. 🧡

Education is key: understanding what makes a relationship healthy empowers teens to set boundaries, stay safe, and seek help when needed. If you or someone you know is experiencing dating violence, resources are available—including hotlines, school counselors, and community organizations dedicated to supporting young people.

At Balanced Mental Health of Arizona, our compassionate providers offer a safe space for teens to share their experiences, access resources, and develop healthy coping strategies. Through personalized support and guidance, we help teens build resilience and navigate relationships with confidence.

When someone you love is grappling with an eating disorder, conversations can feel like walking a tightrope: you want to help, but you’re afraid of saying the wrong thing. And that’s understandable. Words carry weight. The right ones can offer comfort and hope, while the wrong ones can deepen shame or push someone further into silence and despair.

That’s why choosing our words wisely is essential. Speaking with gentleness, compassion, and encouragement can make a world of difference for someone fighting a hard battle within.

Here are some of the helpful things to say to a loved one dealing with an eating disorder:

1.) “I’m here for you, no matter what.”- This simple statement reassures them that they’re not alone and that you’re ready to support them unconditionally.

2.) “It’s okay to feel overwhelmed. Your feelings are valid.”- Acknowledge their emotions without judgment to help them feel heard and understood.

3.) "You’re worth so much more than a number on the scale.” - This reminds them that their weight does not determine their worth, and that their value lies in who they are, not in their appearance or challenges.

4.) “What can I do to support you right now?”- Directly asking this question lets them guide you in how to help without assumptions.

5.) “I’m willing to help you find treatment. I can even go with you, if you like.” This implies a strong sense of support, compassion, and willingness to be actively involved in the person's healing process. It offers them not only practical help but also emotional support.

For compassionate, nonjudgmental, evidence-based care for your loved one, come see one of our specialists here at Balanced Mental Health of Arizona. We’re eager to help you cultivate a loving relationship with both your body and with food.

Dr. King’s dream was never meant to sit in history books but rather to dwell in us — in how we speak, live, advocate, and treat those who can’t offer us anything in return.

May we strive to embody the virtues upon which the world he envisioned was meant to be built. 🖤
