Today’s Nurses Week celebrations were made even more meaningful as we honored the extraordinary caregivers behind this year’s DAISY and BEE Awards!

Congratulations to Betty A., ICU RN, recipient of the DAISY Award, and Michelle M., Occupational Therapist, recipient of the BEE Award.

These recognitions represent the very heart of the Power of Nurses and caregivers, compassion shown in the hardest moments, comfort when it’s needed most, and a level of care that leaves a lasting impact on patients and families alike.

From easing pain and restoring confidence to holding space for families during life’s most vulnerable moments, Betty and Michelle remind us that healing goes far beyond medicine. Their kindness, skill and humanity are what make City of Hope so special.

This Nurses Week, we celebrate not only what our nurses and care teams do, but who they are. đź’™

Congratulations again to Betty and Michelle on this well-deserved recognition!

Every day, our nurses carry forward a legacy that began long before us and continues to shape the future of care.

Today, that impact is recognized across our community. We’re honored to share the Mayor of Goodyear, Joe Pizzillo, has officially proclaimed May 6–12 as Nurses Week, encouraging all residents to join in honoring the extraordinary nurses who serve our community.

During Nurses Week, we’re proud to celebrate the Power of Nurses at City of Hope Phoenix, those who lead with compassion, innovate in moments that matter, and show up for patients when it matters most.

From the foundations laid by Florence Nightingale to today’s Magnet-recognized excellence, nursing has always been about more than care, it’s about courage, connection and unwavering commitment.

Here in Arizona, that legacy lives on through every nurse who walks our halls, supports our patients and strengthens our community.

💙 This week, we celebrate you and we’re proud our community does, too.

Employee Spotlight: Meet Noelle Moeller ✨

If you’ve ever crossed paths with Noelle, you know she brings both heart and energy to everything she does. As a Clinical Scheduler in Hematology, she plays a vital role in helping patients navigate their care—and she does it with compassion that truly shines. 💙

Noelle’s journey into healthcare was deeply personal. After losing several family members to cancer, she knew she wanted to make a difference—even if it wasn’t in a clinical role. Starting out as a Catering Specialist at another hospital, she discovered something powerful: you don’t have to be a nurse or provider to change lives. Every interaction matters, and compassion has many forms.

Outside of work, Noelle is all about embracing life to the fullest. You’ll find her enjoying the outdoors, spending time with her dogs and growing family, cruising in her Jeep, or diving into her unique hobby—dollhouses!

Her advice for others considering healthcare?
“There are countless ways to support a patient. Every role—culinary, housekeeping, maintenance, scheduling—touches lives in a meaningful way. Anyone can find their place, and every contribution matters.”

Her message to those facing a cancer diagnosis:
Advocate for yourself. Build the care team you deserve, seek multiple opinions, and tap into your inner strength—you are stronger than you know.

When it comes to prevention:
Know your family history, listen to your body, and don’t wait to seek care—even if something just feels a little off.

Fun fact: Noelle is a huge hockey fan!

One of Noelle’s favorite moments at City of Hope Phoenix? The bell ringing.
“It gets me every time,” she says. “It’s laughter, joy, tears, and pride all at once. Being part of these journeys—the smiles, the connections, the friendships—it’s worth more than gold.”

We’re so grateful for the compassion, positivity, and dedication Noelle brings to our team each and every day. 💛

We had the honor of closing out Volunteer Week with a thank-you luncheon for the individuals who give so much of themselves to our patients and teams.

While we gathered in appreciation, we know a single moment can’t fully capture the impact our volunteers make each day. Their compassion, generosity and dedication help define the care experience at City of Hope.

To our volunteers, thank you for being an essential part of our mission.

She thought she was preparing for the runway.
But she was really preparing for the fight of her life.

Just weeks before New York Fashion Week, Alison McCullough felt something wasn’t right.

A lump.
A moment of pause.
A decision to trust her instincts.

That moment changed everything.

Diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer, Alison’s world shifted overnight, from training for the runway to navigating appointments, uncertainty and difficult decisions.

But in the middle of it all, she kept moving forward.

When access to care near her home in Alaska meant delays she couldn’t afford, Alison took a leap of faith and reached out to City of Hope Cancer Center Phoenix.

She expected to hear back in days.

We called her within hours.

Within a week, she had a plan.
And she started treatment immediately.

Now, five months into chemotherapy and immunotherapy, Alison continues to show what strength really looks like:

- Walking every day
- Staying connected to a community that lifts her up
- Drawing strength from her faith, her care team and her family
- And most of all, her 11-year-old son, Bradley

Through every challenge, she’s turned her story into something bigger.

A message.
A mission.
A reminder.

Because Alison has always believed in “stepping up to the plate.”

And recently… she did just that.

At our Home Run for Life celebration, Alison stepped onto the field, surrounded by players, fans and loved ones—running the bases as her story echoed through the stadium.

A full-circle moment.
A powerful one.
A reminder that courage shows up in many forms.

💙 Alison’s journey is still unfolding
đź’™ Her strength is undeniable
đź’™ And her story is one of hope

If there’s one thing she wants others to take away, it’s this:

Listen to your body. Trust yourself. And don’t wait.
