Can I Change My Medicare Plan After January 1?
Yes... but only in certain situations.
If you’re already enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan, the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period runs from January 1 through March 31 each year. During this time, you can:
• Switch to a different Medicare Advantage plan
• Drop your Medicare Advantage plan and return to Original Medicare
• Join a Part D prescription drug plan if you return to Original Medicare
Outside of this window, you may still be able to make changes if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period, which can happen due to life events like moving, losing other coverage, or qualifying for certain assistance programs.
