Introducing Bedrock Play!

I am so excited to share with you something that’s been in the works for quite some time. After six years of operating as TimberNook of Greater Portland, we are now Bedrock Play!

Don’t worry! We are still running the same play-based, all outdoor programs for children, using the TimberNook curriculum, only now there’s more! I have known for some time that there are more programs and offerings I want to bring to the community, which was the impetus for creating a larger container. I have been working hard on defining the who/what/why of this business and encapsulating it into this new name, logo and website. And it’s finally ready for you!

Introducing: www.bedrockplay.com. You can find link in bio also. 👆

Please take a look around the site to learn more about the Bedrock Play philosophy, our team and our expanded programs: in addition to our school-year and camp programs, we now are offering Field Trips, parent coaching and workshops.

What this means for you:
If you are currently enrolled, this will not impact you at all. We are still running the same programs and curriculums (Wild Ones, Little Wild Ones and Tiny Ones) and will still have Summer Camps. This simply is a name change and gives us the ability to provide more offerings to you and the community.

If you are not currently enrolled, this website will provide so much more information about what we do, who it might benefit and how to get involved.

Thank you to everyone for your ongoing support. And I appreciate you continuing to share Bedrock Play with anyone and everyone you think might be interested in our philosophy and programs.

Let me know what you think and of course, you can reach out anytime with questions or thoughts.

Thanks! Beth

Play For Health

After finishing school as an occupational therapist, Elizabeth was on the search for how to bring all the elements of her diverse background into one career path. The one common thread that wound through everything important she had done, was play. Play is an essential element of health for children, and one that is under attack by many things in our culture and environment. Where were the days of kids playing outside, everyday, until dark? How could one person help make a change, to help elevate play to it’s proper place, as an essential part of child development, to bring play into our culture’s conversations and reinvent new ways to bring play to our children? This is when she found TimberNook and decided to join forces with them, uniting her voice with theirs, as a teacher, a parent and an occupational therapist, to educate adults about the importance of play and create places where children have the time and space to just play!
