Zoe Midwifery An independent midwifery practice providing comprehensive care in Goshen, Indiana. She has been a preceptor to student nurse midwives since 2015.

Nurse Midwife Betsy partners with women for thoughtful healthcare throughout their lives. Core values and guiding principles include:

Services offered:
• Well-woman care & Hormone imbalances
• Prenatal care and birth at home & Blessed Beginnings Care Center
• Postpartum care
• Newborn care for the first month of life

Betsy McCanse, CNM, has been in the “birth world” since 2003. She started her journey as a childbirth educator teaching Bradley classes, became certified as a doula through DONA, Int in 2005, and then started her trek to become a Certified Nurse Midwife through the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has been practicing as a midwife in the Goshen area since 2013, providing full-scope midwifery care for women across their reproductive lifespans. Over the years she has served women at Goshen Birth Center, Goshen Hospital, Blessed Beginnings Care Center and at homes. She has guided over 600 babies and has provided labor support to those families and many others whose babies have been caught by students or ended up with cesareans. Additionally, Betsy has taken a course in Mayan Abdominal Massage Self-Care, and has certifications in K-taping for pregnancy/postpartum and clinical homeopathy. She is passionate about holding the space for women, to enable birth to be an empowering experience, and in taking part in shared decision making in healthcare throughout women’s lives. She finds year-round joy in blues and swing dancing, and tent camping in the warm months.

Durrell and Desiree Martin of Nappanee are pleased to announce the birth of daughter Caroline Mae Martin at Blessed Beginnings Care Center. Caroline was born on September 29, 2025 at 1:23 pm, weighing 7 pounds, 10.8 ounces and measuring 20 inches long. Desiree did a lot of work to get Caroline out, and Desiree had a good outlook throughout. Caroline took her sweet time and then decided to join us in a hurry. Congratulations, Martin family!

Dominik and Lillian Mockus of South Bend are happy to announce the birth of son Walter Xavier Mockus at Blessed Beginnings Care Center. Walter was born on November 15, 2025 at 8:14 am, weighing 10 pounds, 15 ounces and measuring 21 inches long. Lillian was calm and strong throughout, making pushing look easy. Kevin and Kami (Bender) Schwartz of Syracuse are pleased to announce the birth of daughter Annie Remlee Schwartz. Annie was born at home on October 29, 2025 at 3:42 am. She weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce and was 20 inches long. She joins doting sisters Blakely, Lainey and Halle. Kami worked well through labor, turning off her birth teacher brain and tapping into her instinctual brain to move in all the ways that promoted progress and birth. Taylor and Kara (Stoltzfus) Knepp of Goshen are happy to announce the birth of son Paxton William Knepp. Paxton was born at home on September 7, 2025 at 12:00 midnight. He weighed 9 pounds 11 ounces and was 22 inches long. Through the unexpected challenges during pregnancy, labor and birth, Kara kept a positive outlook, and Taylor was a steady support. Jessica and Zane Griggs of Elkhart are happy to announce the homebirth of dauther Zeta Avalon Griggs. She was born on September 11, 2025. Zeta weighed 9 pounds, 10.1 ounces and was 21.75 inches long. She joins sister Zelda and Zora who were good helpers at and after the birth. Every birth is an adventure and this was no exception, but Jess was persistent and worked through it all. It was a pleasure to join this family again on the adventure of adding to the family. Congratulations, Griggs, family!

Josh and Lisa (Kuhns) Hochstetler of Wakarusa are happy to announce the birth of daughter Selah Cove Hochstetler. Selah was born on September 30, 2025 at Blessed Beginnings Care Center at 1:11am, weighing 9 pounds 7 ounces. Lisa knows her body well and made it with time to settle in, ready to welcome Selah into her hands. It was a pleasure to have this family in my care again for this pregnancy and birth.

Zachary and Anastasia (Hochstetler) Schrock of Wakarusa are excited to announce the birth of daughter Lily Hosanna Schrock. Lily was born on September 14, 2025, at 5:21am at Elkhart General Hospital. She weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces and was 19.75 inches long. Anastasia kept a positive outlook despite plans changing unexpectedly. Lily joins siblings Farrah, Emerson and Jennings. Samantha and John Shankshaw of Goshen are pleased to announce the birth of Greyson Ryan Shankshaw at home. He was born on April 22, 2025 at 6:44pm. Greyson weighed 9 pounds, 2 ounces and was 21.5 inches long. Greyson joins sister Piper in adding more joy to the family. Samantha was strong and persevered throughout the long part of labor and the faster part of labor. It was a pleasure to be part of another pregnancy and birth journey with this family.
