Tip of The Week: Hiring 101

As the holidays approach and you are hiring...here is some food for thought. First off, look at how they are representing themselves. Are they appropriately dressed and prompt? Make sure they know that their shift start is the time they need to be on the floor, not when they show up. No matter what, they should be aware that the customer is always right and be respectful at all times. Remember these are your employees, not your friends. They are there to represent your business!

Tip of The Week: The Setting

Many businesses believe it is just about customer service and the quality of the services they provide, whether it be food, healthcare, clothing, etc. What many miss out is the setting. A setting can deliver physical and psychological aspects of service. How is a store laid out? Is there calming music in a doctor’s office or special lighting in a restaurant? Know your audience and create an experience that will keep them coming back!

The employee shortage is hurting many businesses. Although, unemployment does not help, businesses may have to re-evaluate employment practices. By offering full-time employment with benefits or higher pay you may be able to obtain more employees. Don't forget your current employees...they deserve higher pay for being so dedicated. Yes, it may cost you more, but in the long run, you will make more and keep customers.

Also, do not forget to assess your operations. Are they efficient and effective? Tightening up your operations may save you money.
