Radical partnerships in radical times means fruitful interdependence. We don’t want to just survive the lean years; we want to build a more resilient ecosystem that is greater than the sum of its parts. This summit brings together organizations and leaders who are paving the way with creative partnerships that improve service delivery and result in greater community impact.

This free hybrid event is open to caregivers, community leaders, professionals, and anyone interested in advancing partnerships. Community resource tables will be available throughout the event. We can’t wait to see you!

Join us on March 31 for our next Consortium gathering at Ivy Tech Goshen Community Center!

* This month we will focus on housing and will hear from four local experts from different areas of the housing system.
* Anyone who cares about child, youth, and family wellbeing is welcome to attend. No registration required.
* We will have a resource table so please bring any information or flyers you would like to get out to your colleagues.

This series is an excellent opportunity to learn local data trends through the Elkhart County Child Dashboard, get to know our systems and each other’s programs, as well as network and act together.

We hope to see you on Tuesday!

One week later, we continue to glow as we remember the great feeling of connectedness and learning from Children’s Summit. Here are a few highlights:

* We have heard from many, many people the power of the stories shared by Darious Jackson, Christy Matthews, and our incredible youth panel. These real-life stories strike deep and inspire us that children need the adults in their lives to see them and believe in their potential.

* We loved the Julie Radlauer and her reflections on why it’s important to connect with others (you live longer and are happier!). She also dove into the nine elements of social connections which brought a lot of clarity.

* Juvenile Justice Jeopardy was informative and fun and showed us the strong work that court services is doing to connect with youth and prevent their entry into the system.

* Ritch Hochstetler from ULead led us in connection activities that were fun and engaging. We have also heard that participants made significant connections during the activities that will be beneficial to their work going forward.

* Nicole Williams ended our time with energy and conviction.

* And a comment from a youth participant: “I couldn’t believe how much food there was!”

Thank you, Elkhart County, for your support. We can’t wait until next year!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at Friday's annual Children's Summit. Our hearts were warmed by powerful, vulnerable stories. We made many new connections with our peers. And we left encouraged and inspired. Here is a quick look at some of the action. We hope to see you all, as well as many new faces, next year!

Hello, my name is Kaylene and I am the Family Peer Support Professional Coordinator at the SOURCE. I chose The SOURCE because as my children experienced behavioral and mental health challenges, locating appropriate resources and figuring out how to navigate systems was difficult and lonely. I want to support other parents on a similar journey.

The Source Elkhart County

A system of care is a coordinated network of community partners, formal and informal, who provide services and supports for youth who have mental health concerns – or are at risk for them – and their families.

The mission of The SOURCE is simply stated: “Bringing hope to children with mental health challenges, one family at a time.”

When asked to talk about their vision for the work, The SOURCE leaders said, “We are here to ‘tighten the holes in the net’ to improve the effectiveness of services through collaboration and coordination to ensure that the children who need care get the services they require.”

An effective system of care is built on collaboration and fills the gaps in services and supports for children with mental health concerns.
