We provide help for troubled children and their families through residential care, day treatment/ alternative education, and foster care.

In an inspiring tradition, the Covenant Quilters from Covenant Methodist Church in Fort Wayne have been creating handmade quilts for Bashor Children’s Home for more than 20 years. Their generosity continues to bring comfort and hope to our children.

Last Sunday, our vice president of development, Steve Riikonen, attended the church and witnessed the beautiful moment as the congregation prayed over each quilt before sending them to our kids. This is one of our favorite traditions of the entire year, and we only wish you could see our children’s faces when they receive them — these quilts mean more than you can imagine.

Jeff Howell
U.S. Army, joined in 1997
Jeff now serves as a Day Nurse at Bashor, offering compassion and care with the same dedication he brought to his military service.

Angela VanKlaveren
U.S. Army, joined in 2001
Angela served both stateside and overseas in Korea and Iraq. Today, she continues her mission of service as a Youth Care Worker, helping create safety, structure, and hope for our youth.

Brett Fein
U.S. Marine Corps joined in 2013
Brett served as an Aircraft Mechanic and now works as a Youth Care Specialist, investing in the growth and well-being of our kids.

Gary McRae
U.S. Army, joined in 1977
Gary served as a Company Driver during his tour. He now leads with purpose as our Director of Therapeutic Foster Care, helping connect children with families who can provide safety, stability, and love.

To Jeff, Angela, Brett, Gary and to every veteran in our Bashor community and beyond, thank you for your service.
