School is back in fashion! And so am I with my CPR and Choking classes in Kansas City. 📚

These classes are based on the American Heart Association, most recent recommendations, you do not get an official certificate for completing the course, however, I can make one for you!

this class is wonderful for caregivers, aspiring babysitters, expecting parents, or even seasoned parents looking for an updated hands-on class!

World Breastfeeding Week began a few days ago—I know that this week can bring with it a myriad of feelings. 🩷DEAL INFO BELOW! 👇

I am a RN, IBCLC, and Mama coach, and these are just a few of the infant feeding mantras that I live by.

We all come with our own stories and experiences when it comes to infant feeding and my job is to honor those and help families. It looks different every time I work with someone, and that is what I love about my job!

I will always advocate for a mom‘s peace, her mental health, and joy. I will use all of my detective skills to determine why a baby is not transferring milk or why mom is continuing to get plugged ducts.

I am here for you, your family, and your baby. And I would be honored to walk alongside you in your parenting journey. 💓

Alright, you’ve just had your baby and now you are wondering—how do I know when to feed them??

These cues work for breastfed and bottle fed babies, but not all babies will show all cues! Part of the joy (and frustration) of having a new baby is learning their specific cues, and you are more than up to the challenge, mamas!

Newborn Hunger Cues:
🍼Smacking or licking their lips
🍼Opening their mouth or sticking their tongue out
🍼Rooting for the breast or bottle (they will turn their head one way and start sucking at whatever touches their mouth)
🍼Sucking on anything and everything! Their fingers, toes, your fingers—you name it!
🍼‼️ Crying is a late sign of hunger! You want to offer a bottle or the breast before baby gets to this cue. A fussy baby will not eat as well as a early hungry baby—think this is when baby gets HANGRY!

Is your newborn inching themselves sideways in their sleep space? 🔄

As a Mama Coach who specializes in newborns, I receive questions about infant feeding, safety, and sleep! My stance on switching from the smaller bassinet to a larger pack and play or crib? 👇

If your little one’s head AND feet are less than 2 inches from the top of the sleep space—time to switch! The AAP recommends infants sleeping in the same room aa parents until 6 months as a preventative measure for SIDS, but sometimes that doesn’t work for families, and thats OK! 🩷

The holiday season is around the corner, the weather finally has gotten with the program that it’s November (oh, Missouri!), and I am celebrating a very big milestone in my practice! 🥳

Now you may be saying , “Whoa, Katie, do not mention that Christmas is less than seven weeks away!” Say no more! I am in no way ready for the rush of attending school programs, big family meals, and gift exchanges–we just put away the Halloween costumes!

While breastfeeding may be going well, there are many reasons why baby has difficulty accepting a bottle. 🍼

I am a RN, Mama Coach, and IBCLC, and my bottle refusal support is now live on my site! This service is virtual or in-home (limited availability for in-home).
