Meet Emily 💜
Emily is a bright and determined 4th grader who loves soccer, spending time with her dogs, and being a loyal friend. Her favorite dog is named Lovey, and if you ask Emily about her pets, she’ll happily tell you all about them.
When Emily was younger, language development was difficult for her. She has worked incredibly hard in speech therapy, and today she is telling stories and sharing her thoughts more and more each day. Emily also faced a feeding disorder that made trying new foods very challenging. Now, she is exploring new foods, visiting new restaurants, and even creating her own recipes! 🍽️
Like many autistic friends, some things—such as figurative language or expressions that don’t mean exactly what the words say—can sometimes be confusing. But Emily approaches learning with courage and curiosity, always willing to try and grow.
Most importantly, Emily is the kind of friend everyone hopes to have—kind, loyal, and full of heart. 💜 Her journey reminds us that everyone learns and experiences the world in their own way, and when we celebrate those differences, our communities become stronger.
Autistic friends like Emily have amazing strengths, unique perspectives, and so much to share with the world.
