✨ Caregiver Spotlight: Gayla Short ✨

We are so grateful for Gayla Short and the joy she continues to bring into the life of one very special client here in Granbury. 💙

Gayla has spent many years in caregiving, with her journey first beginning in the world of caring for children. Then in November of last year, she stepped into her role with Comfort Keepers Home Care as the companion for our very first client in Granbury, a role she has embraced with compassion, creativity, and heart.

This client has always loved animals. While Alzheimer’s disease has slowly begun to strip away many of the passions that once came so naturally, Gayla beautifully steps in three times each week to not only provide respite and peace of mind for his wife, but to help him reconnect with meaningful moments of joy and purpose.

And this is exactly what Interactive Caregiving is all about. ✨
It’s about taking the pieces of a person that are still there, their memories, their passions, their sense of wonder, and making those moments meaningful and applicable to their life today, even when disease tries to stand in the way.

🐾 This week, Gayla helped spark joy by bringing his love of animals back into the moment at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, and it was a beautiful reminder that connection is still possible.

💙 Big kudos to you, Gayla, for lifting spirits, creating meaningful engagement, and reminding us that joy still lives in the little moments.

🩺💙 A little belated, but too fun not to share!

We had such a great time celebrating National Doctor’s Day with Lee Healthcare and spreading a little joy throughout our community.

Malissa Busch and our Community Liaison Taylor Mooney stopped by local physician offices with a surprise basket where doctors got to draw their own treat — Frosty tags, Starbucks gift cards, goodies from Baked, and Daily Brew favorites. ☕🍪✨

We definitely created a lot of joy… and maybe a little anxiety 😅 because a few offices forgot it was Doctor’s Day. But honestly, that just made the surprise even better.

In the middle of busy schedules and full patient days, it was fun to bring a few smiles, some laughter, and a small moment of appreciation.

We are so grateful for the physicians in our community and the care they provide to seniors and families every single day. Thank you for all you do. 🧡💜💙

Swapped coffee for a walk… and we may not go back. ☀️🌿

There’s something about getting outside—sunshine, fresh air, a little movement—that makes conversation flow differently.

What started as a simple walk turned into meaningful connection, shared ideas, and time spent planning how we can better support our community.

Our elders have so much wisdom to share, and today’s reminder comes from Grandad Joe. At 92, the joy he radiates for simply being alive and well is inspiring. His health, vitality, and excitement for each new day are a powerful reminder of how meaningful life can be at every stage.

We’re grateful for elders like him who share their journeys and inspire others along the way. It’s a beautiful example that aging can be filled with purpose, gratitude, and joy.
