This is what service looks like! 👏 Last week, three VFW posts came together to help a brother in need.

Our incredible volunteers rolled up their sleeves to build a brand-new wheelchair ramp for veteran Jack Hessley, CPL, USMC, who served from 1970–1974 in Okinawa, Japan.

This project was a true community effort, and we’re grateful for the support of our partners:

We had such an amazing time with T E X A S Rescue Inc , Texas Equine Xperience And Sanctuary on Monday sharing the impact of our donkey therapy program at the Tarrant County Salutes Veterans event at the Fort Worth Stockyards! It is very safe to say that one of our favorite therapy donkeys, 30-year-old movie star Billy, was a hit with his adorable donkey hugs.

With our continued dedication of helping Veterans in the mental health field, we will be sharing our Donkey Therapy Program with Veterans, their families, and other Veteran services! 🫏🥰🫏

Another exciting ASSpect of our participation, is the fact that our movie star donkey, Billy 🎥🫏, was also invited to share his personal perspective on Donkey Therapy with the attendees! This is the first time that an animal has been approved to attend this show! 🤯

We were lucky to squeeze in a donkey therapy session with our just before the winter storm rolled in. 🫏💙
Some of you may be wondering—why donkey therapy?
These gentle animals create a calm, grounding space, and we hope this video gives a little glimpse into why this experience can be so meaningful. 😊
💙 Fact: These donkeys have endured trauma and challenges of their own before being rescued, which makes their connection with our veterans even more powerful.
Huge thanks to T E X A S Rescue Inc , Texas Equine Xperience And Sanctuary for keeping these precious therapy animals safe and cared for during the winter storm.
