Ruth’s Place, a 501 (c) 3 organization, is a collaborative effort between Ruth’s Place Clinic and Ruth's Place Community Outreach Center, the United Way of Hood County, local churches, volunteer doctors and nurses, and numerous Hood County businesses and individuals.
The organization’s unique model offers a holistic approach to rural healthcare and resources for uninsured families through collaboration with numerous resource entities available in Hood County.
Ruth’s Place doctors and nurses provide medical services for both children and adults. “Well-woman” checkups include breast exams, and mammograms are available thanks to our partnerships with Moncrief Cancer Institute and Texas Health Resources.
Ruth’s Place Community Outreach Center operates a weekly food pantry in collaboration with Granbury First United Methodist Church, an after-school childcare program, and hosts Life Skills classes.
How We Do It
Ruth’s Place Clinic employs the services of an Executive Director, a Care Coordinator and part-time staff. Volunteer doctors and nurses and other clinical providers see both adults and children at the clinic. Lake Granbury Medical Center and Hood County Hospital District Board contribute ancillary services as needed. The Board of Directors is made up of community volunteers.
Our History
Ruth's Place began in March of 2009 in our Oak Trail Shores location in a single-wide trailer. In 2010, we received a new home at 1411 Crawford Avenue thanks to the generosity of John and Mary Jo Hill. All of our medical and dental clients are now served at our Crawford Avenue location. In 2014, we were the fortunate recipients of a 3200 square foot metal building donated by Mueller, Inc. In 2015, we completed the addition and have expanded our health care services to those who need us thanks to this generous donation.
"Ruth" was the wife of an anonymous, generous donor who wanted to memorialize his wife with a legacy of providing a unique and critical solution for healthcare and social services for the needy population in Hood County.
