📣 Meet IDD Program Manager, Barry!

In honor of Developmental Disabilities Awareness month, we’re excited to highlight Barry, whose leadership supports several essential services.

💬 What’s one moment on the job that made you smile?
“One of my favorite memories is helping an individual get a job in concessions at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium during the 2011 Super Bowl. He loved football and this is a great memory that I am happy to be part of.”

💬 What’s something you wish more people understood about individuals with IDD?
“They don’t need to be spoken to in an infantilizing way. They’re adults who can make their own choices.”

Barry, thank you for your leadership, compassion, and the meaningful impact you make every day. We appreciate you! 💙

✨ Meet Jennifer Watson, BS, QMHP-CS, Crisis Intervention Specialist!

In honor of Developmental Disabilities Month, we're highlighting Jennifer's role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities during behavioral crises. She collaborates with their teams to create safe, person-centered solutions.

What she loves most about her work is seeing individuals succeed and thrive in ways that are meaningful to them. Recently, a client reached out just to thank Jennifer for helping him find happiness again—a moment that perfectly captured why this work matters.

Jennifer was inspired to enter this field to be a voice for a population that is too often forgotten, mistreated, or pushed aside. Her clients continually remind her that happiness, trauma, and crisis look different for everyone—and that understanding each person’s unique experience is essential to providing effective support.

💙 We’re grateful for the compassion, advocacy, and expertise Jennifer brings to Pecan Valley Centers every day.

📣 Story linked below! Innovation and compassion drive everything we do Pecan Valley Centers—that’s why healing looks a little different here! 🐴💛

We are excited to expand our partnership with T E X A S Rescue Inc , Texas Equine Xperience And Sanctuary to offer donkey therapy to individuals in our outpatient substance use disorder program. This expansion builds on a successful two-year collaboration that provides donkey therapy to veterans receiving mental health services through Pecan Valley Centers.

Partnerships like this allow us to meet people where they are, and remind us that healing can happen in powerful, unexpected ways.
