It is with a somber heart that we announce the passing of long time GVFD firefighter Allen “WeeBee” Brown. Allen fought a long and hard fight, but passed away late yesterday evening surrounded by family and friends. As arrangements are secured, we will pass along that information.

It is without doubt that Allen is now playing pranks and kidding around with his longtime GVFD buddies, Conny Donathan and Poggie Ames, who preceded him. Rest easy WeeBee, we’ll take it from here, brother.

WE ARE EXCITED BY THIS ANNOUNCEMENT!
A new Pierce mid mount aerial ladder truck and new Pierce engine pumper have been ordered to better serve the citizens of Granbury.
The new apparatus will replace an older engine and truck that will be put into reserve status.
The fire department would like to thank our city council, mayor, and city manager for approving the acquisition of these apparatus.

We want to thank the Granbury Volunteer Fire Department for the recent order of two units: a Pierce Impel pumper and a Pierce Ascendant 100' Mid-Mount Aerial Tower on a Velocity chassis! Thank you for choosing Pierce Mfg and Siddons-Martin Emergency Group to build your new units, we look forward to delivery!

We lost one of our Hood County heroes this week. Garrett Hull was a resident of our county who had a career with the Fort Worth Police Department. Our thoughts and sympathies are with his family and friends.

Texas Forest Service sends planes, helicopter to Knox Ranch fire
July 23, 2018
Between 30 and 35 trucks from the county’s nine volunteer fire departments have responded during the past hour to a raging fire consuming cedar trees and thick brush on the Knox Ranch property between Granbury and Tolar. Fire officials say that the Texas Forest Service has dispatched a helicopter and two planes to the scene. At this point, no homes appear to be threatened.
