Today is Rainbow baby day. A rainbow baby is often the term used to describe a baby that follows pregnancy or baby loss. Some families like to use this terminology as a rainbow is the symbolism for hope but some say it is too positive. It almost feels like the pregnancy is full of joy and all is well which is often far from it sadly. Most families describe a lot of anxiety and often difficulty attaching. They know how painful it feels to lose a baby and it is too frightening to properly attach to another pregnancy and baby fearful you have to go through this loss and pain again. The naïve bubble of pregnancy has gone and it is often a rollercoaster of emotions until you finally meet your baby.

We also remember all those families who chose not to have another baby after their loss or were unable to conceive. We see you.

Today we celebrate our rainbow babies, remember our little ones not here and send our love to those who did not go on to have another for whatever reason.
