Take your time, take breaks, and watch the twisting. Twisting with a load on your spine (like from a shovel full of snow) causes way more injuries to the lower back than bending. Remember "nose and toes"...wherever your nose points you want your feet pointing the same direction. This will help avoid twisting and is a good tip to remember even when not shoveling snow.
