Talk don’t text….

If your teenage daughter texts you because she’s stressed, have her call you instead. Hearing mom’s voice improves mood and decreases stress. Texting increases stress.

A recent study showed that girls who talked to their mom on the phone had an increase in oxytocin (love) hormone level and a decrease in cortisol (stress) hormone. Girls who texted their mom, and didn’t have the benefit of hearing her voice, had increased cortisol levels and no change in oxytocin.
