Attended another amazing home birth yesterday morning!! It was so tender watching this little family welcome their new sister.

Wow!! God has created such beautiful things.

After the birth and before we went to do our 24 hour visit with the family from the night before Midwife Mykl treated me to a delicious hot chocolate.

Had a fun time doing prenatal visits at midwife Mykl Daniel Warwas office today.

While there I learned that the birth pool Brea was born in will be donated to doula Susan to use in her own practice which includes the roseau Minnesota hospital.

I am so grateful for my midwife Rebekah's tradition of writing the baby's name and birthday on the edge of the pool after birth. What an amazing gift!!

It truly made my day to see Breas name on this pool. It makes my heart so happy to know it will continue to be used to bless other mamas.

A huge thank you to doula Susan for all her work in helping the roseau hospital staff understand the value of a water birth.

Men, this is important.
If your partner is still breastfeeding,
she’s still in her postpartum period.

Breastfeeding isn’t just about milk.
It changes her hormones.
It reshapes her brain.
Literally.

Prolactin rises, making her more alert, more tuned in to the baby’s needs.
Estrogen and progesterone stay low,
which can mean:
less energy
mood swings
trouble sleeping
a lower desire for intimacy

So if she seems emotional, sensitive, or completely wrapped up in the baby
it’s not that she’s “moody.”
It’s not that she’s “changed.”
It’s physiology.

Every single day,
she’s nourishing a baby with her body,
responding to their cues,
and quietly trying to rebuild herself.

Dads, this is your moment.
Show up.

Hold her.
Hold the baby.
Make the meal.

Be a safe place.
Be an equal parent.

Had the opportunity to assist midwife Paige Pederson with a beautiful birth last night/ early this morning. It is amazing to see midwives at work. They truly care so much for their birthing mamas. I love this work.
