🎶 Happy World Music Therapy Week! 🎶

At Valley Senior Living, music isn’t just something you hear in the dining room during meal time or during worship service, it’s something you can feel, share with your neighbors and friends, and something you can experience together almost every day because of our amazing music therapy program.

Our care communities are filled with the sound of connection. From singing choirs and chime choirs to rock band, guitar lessons, and even an Orff band, there are so many ways for residents to engage with music. The music therapy program offers personalized one-on-one music therapy sessions, meaningful and compassionate end-of-life music offerings, and group sessions that bring people together in powerful ways.

With the assistance of and under the direction of music therapists Lindsey Moffitt and Jill Swingen, residents are often enjoying and creating music! Nearly every single day you will find music in the care we provide.

We’re grateful for the passion, heart and dedication the music therapists bring to residents, family members and the care partners. Music has a way of reaching places words cannot, and at Valley, it plays a meaningful role in enriching lives and strengthening connections. 💚

April is National Volunteer Month, and we are honored to celebrate someone who has quietly and faithfully given her time and talents for more than 18 years 💚.

Erllene Erickson is so much more than a volunteer at Heartland, she is part of the fabric of the neighborhood, and she is being recognized by the North Dakota Long Term Care Association as the Volunteer of the Year! Congratulations!

Many know her as a familiar, comforting presence. She is the one sitting down for a card game, sharing conversation, and making residents feel seen and valued. She is making baked goods with the residents, while making the days smell and taste like home and adding warmth in the simplest and most meaningful ways.

Outside, her care continues. Erllene tends to the courtyard with the same dedication she gives to people, planting flowers, caring for the space, and creating a place of beauty and peace for residents, families, and staff to enjoy. 🌸

What makes Erllene truly special is not just what she does, but how she does it. She gives quietly, without seeking recognition, simply because she cares. For nearly two decades, she has helped make the Heartland neighborhood feel like home. That kind of devotion cannot be measured, but it is deeply felt by everyone around her.

Erllene, thank you for the love, comfort, and care you have shared over the years. We are so grateful for you 🌸

April is National Volunteer Month, the perfect time to celebrate and congratulate Landyn Adams on being named Junior Volunteer of the Year by the North Dakota Long Term Care Association! 💚

Landyn has a special gift for connection, especially in memory care on the Hearthstone neighborhood. Having spent time in the Hearthstone neighborhood since he was just a baby, coming to work with his grandma Lisa, he has grown up alongside many of the residents, forming bonds that are incredibly rare and deeply meaningful. Even when words are not possible, the smiles, laughter, and hugs he gives and receives say everything about the comfort and happiness he brings.

One of Landyn’s greatest talents is his creativity. Through art, he not only teaches drawing step by step to the residents. He takes the time to ensure everyone feels included, never rushing, always encouraging. His personalized drawings of grandchildren, pets, and cherished memories have become treasured keepsakes proudly displayed in residents’ rooms.

Beyond art, Landyn is always ready to jump in, whether it is helping with bingo, outings, holiday celebrations, patio events, or simply spending time visiting. On days off from school, this is where he chooses to be. That speaks volumes about his character and the love he has for this community.

Landyn, thank you for the joy, kindness, and connection you bring to so many. We are incredibly proud of you and so grateful to have you as part of our community. Congratulations on this well deserved honor 🌟
