Ever heard the word "astigmatism" and wondered what it actually means?
Astigmatism is a very common eye condition that affects how your eye focuses light. Instead of having a perfectly round shape like a basketball, the cornea (the front surface of your eye) is shaped more like a football.
Because of this irregular shape, light doesn't focus evenly on the retina—the part of your eye that sends signals to your brain. This can lead to:
- Blurry or distorted vision
- Eye strain or discomfort
- Headaches
- Trouble seeing at night
The good news? It's easily treatable with glasses, contact lenses, or even corrective surgery in some cases. So if you're having trouble seeing clearly, a simple eye exam can help get things back in focus. 👓👁️
