Step aside, disco balls! Arline Edgewood Spring Creek Meridian is the ultimate dancing queen!

She’s always moved to her own beat and is the first one on the floor. Whether it’s live music, a community event, or a spontaneous jam session in the street; Arline is somehow getting everyone else to join in. She’s out dancing every week with her friends, proving age is just a number!

Raising seven kids, including a set of twins, taught her a thing or two about juggling life. "I have my own space, but also companionship. I’m not lonely like when I lived alone. I’ve made friends to go dancing with, take walks, or even grab lunch!”

Arline dances through life. And at Edgewood, that’s exactly the kind of joy we love having around. We are Edgewood.

June has always had a way of spinning life into something beautiful.. literally. Born in Princeton, New Jersey, she grew up appreciating the changing seasons and the little details that make life rich. Her journey eventually led her to sunny San Diego, where she spent her early years working in a lab. But it wasn't long that she discovered her true passion wasn’t in a lab, but in her family, her land, and her sheep.

June became an avid sheep farmer and master weaver, turning wool into works of art and showing the world that creativity and a little flair can make everyday things extraordinary. She shared her talents at festivals, in newspaper articles, and, most importantly, with everyone lucky enough to watch her work her craft.

June found herself at Edgewood Memory Care - Belgrade nearly a year ago. Her weaving now takes place in the connections she forms, crafting friendships into a tapestry that makes every day brighter.

Here, our residents are stitched together by people like June, creating one large, vibrant masterpiece. We are Edgewood.

Meet Mr. John Miller our living proof at Edgewood Spearfish that hobbies don’t retire, they just find new ways to shine; one rolling pin at a time! In 2002, when John's wife was admitted to the hospital, he was looking for something to do to keep his mind off of things and stay busy.

Most people see a baking tool. John saw a blank canvas. He found a rolling pin and started carving with a Dremel, and that's how it started. Self-taught and fueled by curiosity, John would flip through magazines and encyclopedias finding inspiration. His favorites were animals, he started with a mummy that sat on his dining table (that his wife did not approve)! But that led to elk, zoo animals to a full-on Statue of Liberty!

Between 2002 and 2007, John carved 22 rolling pins, each one a masterpiece. He’s been featured in the Huron, SD newspaper and still proudly shows off his three favorites; while gifting the rest to his eight grandchildren.

Because at Edgewood, life (and creativity) just keeps on rolling. We are Edgewood.

"Save the ducks!" Some of the quirkiest moments happen in our Edgewood Castle Hills halls (or courtyard in this case). Once, a feathered family of ducks moved into our courtyard. Residents and staff absolutely loved it, checking on their feathered neighbors daily, rallying around a “Save the Ducks” petition when it was time for them to move on, and even making fun t-shirts to commemorate the whole adventure.

It's such a cherished, laughable memory, but it's what makes up our community. Castle Hills is a community that is deeply woven into the fabric of their local neighborhood. We are the ones who throw luaus just because, put together care bags for the local fire station, and somehow make Tuesdays feel like a party. Walk through our doors, find us in the community, or take a look at raw moments on Facebook; they are all a lively testament to how much we keep everyone engaged and involved.

Beyond the fun and games, we are a community that doesn’t just live together, we do life together. We are Edgewood.

What were you doing at 14?

Forrest “Stan” Sharkey was hopping freight trains out of Indianapolis and living under a bridge in Bismarck. By 15, he was working nights as a hotel elevator operator for just $1 a day. He still chuckles as he recalls the characters he met and the stories that came with the job—just a glimpse into the many colorful memories he shares with his trademark humor.

From those bold beginnings to serving on the front lines of WWII, Stan’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary. At 99, he continues to captivate everyone with the way he tells it.

Born on a farm in Edgeley, North Dakota, Earl comes to Edgewood Senior Living Jamestown with wisdom and dedication. After high school in 1953, he met the love of his life at the Edgeley Café, and in November 1956, they were married — and this year they’ll celebrate their 69th anniversary!

But his story doesn’t stop there. Earl is a proud veteran who served in the National Guard, and learned early on the value of hard work. He even made a little extra on the side repairing guns and reloading ammo; talk about old-school skills! He’s full of stories of service and courage that remind us of the values that connect us all.

Veterans make our communities stronger. They bring experience, resilience, and a new perspective that inspires everyone around them. It’s what makes us so special. We are Edgewood.

“Come here, too. You’ll be taken care of.” When you walk into our Edgewood Blaine community, it doesn’t take long to realize something special is happening here. Over 10 different family relationships here, in our hallways. Family is everywhere in every sense of the word.

We have brothers and sisters who both work here. A resident who gets to live here and watch her daughter and granddaughter care for one another. Sisters who pass meds together. A granddaughter who sees her grandmother not just on holidays, but every day; sharing breakfast and jokes they might never have made time for otherwise. So many mixes of three generations under one roof, each playing their part. A daughter-in-law who brings daily joy to the same place her mother-in-law calls home, while her son helps keep our building running and safe. A mother and daughter in all parts of the community; one serving smiles and one serving meals with pride.

“Some say we’re intentional. We say we’re lucky.” It didn’t happen by accident. We created a place where family can thrive. But... the real magic is the people themselves — and we’re thankful for that.

We are Edgewood.

“As a 12-year-old, I could pitch like a pro. I might still have an arm that can throw!” That’s Lavon at Edgewood Spring Creek Ustick and while her baseball days may have slowed, her energy hasn’t! She’s full of creativity and fun, diving into every puzzle and diamond-art project she can find.

Lavon spent her career as the legendary lunch lady at Meridian School District — think cinnamon rolls! A recipe we’re still hoping she’ll share with our community someday. Beyond her culinary skills, Lavon brightens every day, supporting residents and staff, making people feel welcome, and spreading smiles (and food) wherever she goes.

“I’ve finally found my home and it’s nothing what people used to think!” At Edgewood, people like Lavon get to bring their passions, into their retirement years. Because we are Edgewood.

Our cheerful Georgia, at Edgewood Spring Creek Eagle Island has enjoyed the freedom to age gracefully here for years. She first joined us in one of our independent patio homes, where she and her little dog, Denzel, loved spending time in the backyard and taking short neighborhood walks.

As the years passed, it was easy for Georgia to transition into one of our assisted living apartments. She didn’t have to leave the community she loves. No major changes, no starting over. Just the same familiar faces, the same neighborhood vibes, and the same open-door friendliness she’s always shared. Georgia always makes a point to greet residents, share joy, listen to their stories, and create lasting friendships.

We are a community full of incredible people like Georgia; embracing life and showing that age doesn’t define you.
