Prairie River Honey Farm

Prairie River Honey Farm Pure, Raw, Natural, Nebraska Honey, Straight From The Hive. Our honey is never heated or processed i We keep our honey raw and natural the way the bees intended.

Our honey comes straight from our Hives located on the family farm near Chapman, NE along the Platte River, and throughout Grand Island, NE near fields of Sweet Clover. When our hives are full of honey we extract and bottle the honey in Grand Island, NE. We believe in the health awareness and benefits that beekeeping can provide from natures bees pollinating, raw honey, bee pollen, natural beeswax and propolis. In order to give back to the bees, we employ organic beekeeping methods without the use of harsh chemicals to ensure our bees are healthy and that all our bee products are the way nature has intended. Unlike regular store bought honey, our honey is never processed or heated in order to maintain all vital nutrient qualities of antioxidants, pollen, enzymes, vitamins, and amino acids. Most large honey producers heat/pasteurize their honey to make it easier to handle and bottle faster which destroys all the nutrients! All of our honey containers and lids are BPA free food grade healthy plastic. Here are some health benefits that only Pure Raw Natural Honey can provide:

When using sweetener, always reach for raw, organic honey in order to reap the most benefits. Here are 6 delicious ways that honey improves your health:

1. It boosts your immune system. Raw, organic honey is loaded with antioxidants, pollen, vitamins, minerals, and enzymes which protect the body from bacteria and boost the immune system. This helps boost immunities for those who suffer outdoor pollen allergies and alleviates allergy symptoms. Raw honey also helps sooth cold and flu symptoms, such as coughs, sore throats, and congestion are also kept at bay when treated with honey. To improve your immune system, add 1-2 tablespoons of honey to warm water daily. For an extra boost, add fresh lemon juice and a dash of cinnamon.

2. It helps you lose weight. Drinking warm water with lemon and honey on an empty stomach, first thing in the morning, is the main component of every detoxprogram. Doing this on a daily basis is one of the best ways to cleanse the liver, remove toxins, and flush fat from the body. For optimal benefits, add 1 tablespoon of honey plus the juice of one lemon to warm water every morning before breakfast. This is a very soothing and satisfying drink to end the day with, as well.

3. It reduces the risk of heart disease. Honey mixed with cinnamon has been shown to revitalize the arteries and veins of the heart and reduce cholesterol in the blood by up to 10%. When taken on a regular basis, this honey-cinnamon mixture may reduce the risk of heart attacks and stop another from occurring in people who have already suffered one. Add 1-2 tablespoons of honey with 1/3 teaspoon of cinnamon to warm water, then drink daily.

4. It soothes indigestion. For those who suffer from indigestion, the antiseptic properties of honey relieve acidity in the stomach and alleviate digestion. Honey also neutralizes gas, becoming the ultimate stomach soother when it comes to overeating. One or two tablespoons of honey before heavy meals is the best way to thwart indigestion, and if you’ve already over indulged, add honey and lemon to warm water to help move food through the digestive track.

5. It bolsters your energy levels. The natural sugars in honey provide a healthy source of calories and energy for the body. Plus, using honey for an energy boost also answers the human body’s innate craving for something sweet. Fight fatigue with nature’s answer to low energy. Instead of reaching for coffee, cakes, or chocolate to get you through an energy slump, try reaching for a tablespoon of raw, organic honey instead.

6. It clears up your skin. Due to its anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties, honey is the ultimate organic skincare brand. Apply a dab of raw, organic honey directly to blemishes, and let the skin absorb its medicinal properties overnight. Wash it off in the morning, and after regular use, you’ll wake up to clear skin!

-Please note that raw honey will have a tendency to crystallize if kept in a cool environment. Most pure raw or unheated honey has a natural tendency to crystallize over time. Crystallization does not affect the honey except for color and texture. Crystallized honey is not spoiled and preserves the flavor and quality characteristics of the liquid honey. Some honey users like it in this state since it is easy to spread on bread or toast without dripping off and the taste is richer. Honey crystallization is most rapid around 50- 59 ºF, while honey resists crystallization best at higher temperatures more than 77 ºF. To return crystallized honey to liquid place the honey in a warm water bath for 20-30 minutes making sure the temperature of the water does not exceed 104 ºF to avoid overheating. Overheating honey for any period of time will reduce its quality by destroying its enzymes, loss of the delicate flavor, aroma and darkening the honey color.-

Our Story

Our raw honey comes straight from our hives which are located on environmentally protected USDA Pollinator Habitat land along the Loup River within Central Nebraska. This wildlife habitat protected land is located several miles away from any agricultural ground, and provides our bees with a floral source of over 40 different blooming wildflowers from the untamed prairie of Nebraska. The top pollinator wildflowers that our bees forage on from spring until fall in Central Nebraska include penstemons, purple, white, silky, and foxtail prairie clover, milkweed, legumes, wild bergamot, rocky mountain bee plant, a variety of sunflowers, goldenrod, and asters, among many more flowering plants.

We believe in the health awareness and benefits that beekeeping can provide from nature's bees pollinating, raw honey, bee pollen, natural beeswax and propolis. In order to give back to the bees, we employ organic beekeeping methods without the use of harsh chemicals to ensure our bees are healthy and that all our bee products are the way nature has intended. Our honey is never heated or processed in order to maintain all the health benefits of natural honey including enzymes, antioxidants, vitamins, amino acids, and pollen.
