Celebrate National ASL Day with NCDHH
National ASL Day is a time to celebrate American Sign Language, Deaf culture, and community. Join the Nebraska Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (NCDHH), Nebraska Association of the Deaf (NeAD), and ASL Allies for a community potluck in celebration of ASL and Deaf culture.

Date: Wednesday, April 15, 2026
Time: 5:00 – 8:00 PM
Location: Wiggenhorn Park (under the pavilion)
2600 Clay Street, Ashland, NE 68003

This is a community potluck—guests are encouraged to bring a dish to share. Plates, utensils, and water will be provided.
This gathering is open to interpreters, ASL students, families, coworkers, and community members interested in connecting and celebrating ASL.

Hearing loss is not a typical part of aging. It is largely from noise exposure. Life is noisy! It's not just power tools and guns, but everyday sounds that damage the inner ear over time.

Often these surprising sources of loud sounds come about from a misguided belief that loud means fun—the louder it is, the more festive. The good news? Because the decibel scale is logarithmic, turning it down even a little can help save our hearing a lot.
