Let's talk about cupping.
You've probably seen the circular marks on athletes or celebrities. And maybe you've wondered: what is that? Does it work? Does it hurt?
Here's what cupping actually is:
It's a technique where we use suction cups to lift tissue away from the body. This creates negative pressure—the opposite of the compression we use in massage.
Why does that matter?
Because sometimes your tissue is stuck. Fascia gets adhered. Muscles get compressed. Blood flow gets restricted.
Cupping lifts and separates. It brings fresh blood to the area. It releases fascial restrictions. It creates space for your body to move the way it's supposed to.
Does it hurt? Not usually. It feels like a strong pull or suction. Some people find it really relaxing.
Does it leave marks? Sometimes. Those circular marks are from blood being drawn to the surface. They're not bruises—they fade in a few days.
Is it right for everyone? No. That's why we assess and talk about what your body needs.
But for the right person at the right time? Cupping can be incredibly effective.
