Center For Independence

Center For Independence In 1982 CFI began as the Helen Campbell Center for the Blind.

CFI empowers individuals with disabilities to live independently through advocacy, information and referral, independent living skills, peer mentoring and community transitions, and more! Founded by five newly blind women that recognized the need for skills in survival, and independent living for people with visual impairments. In 1986, services were expanded to encompass and acknowledge the needs of people with all types of disabilities. The Center now serves 12 counties within 40,000 square miles on the Western Slope of Colorado, with offices in Grand Junction, Montrose, Glenwood Springs and Salida.

Officer Naik recently visited the Center For Independence and spoke about pedestrian and traffic safety. Roadway safety is a shared responsibility. Whether you're on foot or behind the wheel, we all play a role in keeping each other safe. Pedestrians should stay alert and use designated crosswalks, while drivers must pay attention to the roadway and obey posted speed limits. Together, we can make our roads safer for everyone.

We are so thankful for our amazing staff that go to events! Say hi next time you see our booth around town 🤩
