This week on Road to Hope Radio, hosted by David Maulsby, we are honored to introduce a powerful story of resilience, accountability, and redemption.
Joining us is Tranmainium “Silva” Williams, a U.S. Army veteran from Memphis, Tennessee.
Silva deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom shortly after completing basic training. While serving in supply, his base endured frequent mortar attacks. Determined to do more for his brothers in arms, he volunteered for supply missions outside the wire, placing himself in even greater danger.
About five months into deployment, the invisible wounds began to surface. Silva struggled with severe PTSD symptoms that manifested in extreme anger outbursts. Those struggles ultimately led to his separation from the Army. After returning home, the battle intensified. Moving from job to job and city to city, untreated trauma took its toll. His path led to incarceration, where he spent 15 and a half years behind bars.
Upon release, Silva made a decisive choice: he came straight to Camp Hope. In this episode, he opens up about living with PTSD, Manic Depressive Disorder, Reactive Attachment Disorder, and the long-term impact of combat trauma. He also shares a brief but deeply moving story about Christmas at Camp Hope, a moment that speaks volumes about restoration, brotherhood, and the power of second chances.
His story is raw.
It’s honest.
And it is exactly why Road to Hope Radio exists.
Tune in this week and hear how hope is not just a word, it’s a road worth walking. https://www.iheart.com/podcast/390-road-to-hope-radio-28216649/
