We’re excited to introduce Lauren McFall! Lauren began her birth doula training in 2023 with Jessica English of Birth Kalamazoo and has accompanied us to several births as an apprentice. As we’ve gotten to know Lauren over the past year, it is clear to us that a career as a birth doula perfectly complements her skills, personality, and natural intuition. We know that many people will benefit greatly from Lauren’s support and are excited for what’s to come!

Lauren is currently completing certification through DONA International and accepting clients at a temporary discounted rate.

My name-tag showed up today with my brand new dual credential! I am now a DONA Certified Postpartum Doula (in addition to being a Certified Birth Doula since 2017).

I started postpartum cert at the beginning of the pandemic and I’m so glad I was able to complete the process and offer this service to our clients.

This is one of the most significant skills anyone supporting a Mother in labor can hold. The very "skill" of riding the waves with a laboring woman while leaving her undisturbed is the best way to help her through. A well versed doula or midwife can simply observe a laboring woman, the way she moves her body, the sounds she makes, and fully understand her progress in labor without ever touching her or speaking to her.

Happy 2023! Did we support you through the birth of your 2022 baby? Share a recent pic in the comments!

At each year-end we enjoy spending time reflecting on our cumulative milestones and impact. 2022 brought 65 births, over 600 hours of labor support, hundreds of hours of classes, prenatal meetings, and postpartum support.

In 2023, we anticipate meeting a number of exciting milestones, including meeting a cumulative 500 births attended.

To those who have entrusted us to support and guide you through such a tender and transformative experience, thank you. ❤️

The Lancet estimates that expanding midwifery care by 25% over 5 years would result in 41% reduction in maternal deaths, and a 39% reduction in infant mortality.

This equates to 170,000 women’s lives saved and 1.2 million infants per year, by 2035.

This is the very best kind of doula morning. It’s rare that Brenda Baar and I are needed at the same time! This has been quite the grand finale to summer. We were lucky enough to be here with the always amazing Midwife Kim Porter. ❤️❤️❤️
