At The Fertility Center, we know that infertility is a deeply personal issue affecting all areas of a couple’s life. Founded in 1991 by Dr. William Dodds & Dr. James Young, we offer services designed to address each couple’s unique needs from basic fertility evaluation to In Vitro Fertilization and Donor services. We draw upon the extensive experience of our physicians, lab director and nursing professionals to optimize your chances for success. In addition to our medical services, we offer one-on-one counseling services with a certified infertility counselor, free of charge. We invite you to schedule an appointment with Dr. Valerie Shavell, Dr. Mili Thakur, Dr. Emma Giuliani, or Dr. Gary Jones at one of our locations in Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Mason, or Traverse City, where together we can develop a successful treatment plan for achieving your dream. It’s always fun when our staff run into each other out in the wild! Dr. Shavell and our counselor, Amanda, had a great time celebrating the season at the Corewell Health West holiday party last night.

Our Kalamazoo office is currently experiencing a phone outage and will be without phones through the end of day today, possibly into tomorrow. Much of our success as a practice is connected to the success of our lab partners at . They are the other half that makes us whole. Together, we partner everyday to bring the best care possible to our patients.

That’s why we’re so proud of their team! Sending big congratulations to Dr. Aldo Esterhuizen & Dr. Nagham Younis on receiving the Ovation Fertility Leader of the Year and Rising Star awards, respectively. In addition to their individual accomplishments, their entire laboratory team achieved an Ovation Cup runner-up status, recognizing their operational success in 2024.

Days like today give us all a moment of reflection and time to make note of what matters around us. We certainly couldn’t do the work we do without our dedicated team who show up each day to care for our patients with kindness and understanding. We’re all working toward the same goal of building families together. Thank you to our patients for putting your trust in us.

We have always prided ourselves on our commitment to patient-centered care. One of the reasons we’re able to do that so well is because of the longevity that many of our staff have - the experience in their years.

These three are shining examples of that. This past May, September, and October, Lisa, Robin, & Laurie all celebrated 25 years of working at TFC! We are so grateful that they have dedicated so much of their careers to our patients and team. They each bring their own set of skills and value to our organization. We are lucky to have them!
