With summer in full swing, it's the perfect time to brush up on sun safety. Dr. David Doud, an internal medicine physician at Trinity Health Medical Group in Grand Rapids, reminds us that up to 80% of UV rays can still reach our skin, even on cloudy days. That means sunscreen isn’t just for beach days!
Top tips from Dr. Doud:
☀️Use SPF 30 or higher. Many makeup and skincare products fall short.
☀️Apply generously: About an ounce for your body and a nickel-sized amount for your face.
☀️Reapply every two hours, especially if you're sweating or swimming.
☀️Choose what works for you: Mineral sunscreens are gentle and eco-friendly, while chemical sunscreens blend easily and may last longer.
Protecting your skin today helps prevent skin cancer tomorrow. So, whether you're heading to the lake or just out for a walk, don’t forget your SPF!
