We just ordered a new line of high end chocolate bars from ... TASTING DAY!!
Purchasing a current line of chocolate is like buying music by the album in the 90s: you know you'll like one or two, but hope the rest don't suck. So it was a delight that every bar is either good or great at The Chocolarder.
A good chocolate bar is about the whole experience. Packaging ~matters~. Memorable, but not an adventure (don't make me get tools or destroy the wrapper). The flavor notes on the labels were delightfully accurate, as well, and the cocoa bean art on the chocolate bars is just right.
Next, is texture, from the satiny sheen of the bar, to the way it snaps when the corner is cracked off. A gentle to crispy snap is my sweet spot, and this hit it. Now, there are different ways that different cultures process the cocoa beans, and these lead to different textures. There no one right texture, just preference. For the first time, we truly appreciated the pairing of flavors with the textures of the chocolate, in this line. I think I'm gonna need to do more ~research~. Thoughts and prayers, as I sample and ponder. Tough work, that.
Speaking of flavor... this is some grownup chocolate. No gimmicks, just flavor. And it's the finish that really impressed us. The first flavor is good, but that's expected. Each of these bars have a whole story that unfolds on the tongue. But the aftertaste, those end notes, they linger beautifully.
Each of these bars are strong contenders for , but the Honeycomb won . Gorse Flower won . Chestnut won
And the Honeycomb came back and took home the award with the pairing.
