Slippery sidewalks, icy steps, and hidden black ice: winter can be rough on your bones and joints!

Here’s how to stay safe:
🎿 Wear shoes with good traction.
🚶‍♂️ Take short, careful steps.
💡 Keep walkways well-lit and salted.
♨️ Warm up before shoveling or winter sports.
🪜 Use handrails whenever possible — extra support can prevent slips and falls.

If a slip or fall happens, WellCare Urgent Care offers in-office X-rays and on-site splints and casting to get you back on your feet quickly.

When temperatures drop, your body can lose heat faster than it produces it. Watch for these 8 signs you’re too cold:

❄ Shivering is your body’s first line of defense to generate heat.
❄ Fatigue or weakness, or feeling unusually tired or lethargic.
❄ Slowed heart rate or breathing means your body is conserving energy.
❄ Pale or blue-tinged skin means extremities are not getting enough warmth.
❄ Confusion or memory issues can mean your brain is affected by the cold.
❄ Clumsiness or lack of coordination, or your movements become slow or awkward.
❄ Numbness or tingling, especially in fingers, toes, nose, or ears.
❄ Extreme cold sensation or inability to feel cold can be a dangerous late-stage sign of hypothermia.

If you or someone you’re with shows these signs, get to a warm place immediately and seek medical attention if symptoms persist.
