High temps + outdoor fun = a greater risk of dehydration and heat-related illness. Whether you’re at the beach, on the trails, or just enjoying the sun, staying hydrated is essential!

Watch out for these signs of dehydration:
💧 Dry mouth or lips
💧 Headache or dizziness
💧 Fatigue or weakness
💧 Dark-colored urine
💧 Muscle cramps
💧 Confusion or irritability (especially in children or older adults)

Heat exhaustion can come on fast, so sip water regularly, wear light clothing, take breaks in the shade, and don’t wait until you're thirsty!

⚠️ Redness, warmth, or pus (signs of infection)
⚠️ Difficulty breathing, dizziness, or swelling of the face/lips (could be an allergic reaction)

The summer sun is shining over Grand Rapids, but don't let UV rays put your skin at risk. Here are 3 simple ways to protect yourself when you're out and about:

🧴 Wear broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) and reapply every 2 hours
☀️ Seek shade during the peak sun hours from 10 AM to 4 PM
