We are thrilled to be working with Plainfield Township to facilitate green burials in their cemeteries! Let us know if you have questions, or you can attend our informational conversation on Tuesday June 9 at 6pm to learn more.

As of this month, green burials are now permitted in the Plainfield Township Cemetery after the township board approved designated areas in the cemetery where this type of burial could take place.

Our free educational series "Tuesday Talks" is a way to participate in honest, practical, and surprisingly un-scary conversations that everyone needs but few of us ever have.
Hosted by our Community Care Specialist Tracey Walker, we're covering these topics with warmth, zero judgment, and light refreshments. Because deathcare is community care, and this community deserves a safe place to ask every question you've ever been afraid to ask.
Come as you are. Curiosity welcome.

Some families want to keep a loved one’s ashes at home for a while, which can be part of that family’s grieving process.

If this is your preference, it’s important to also make sure you have a long-term plan for a loved one’s cremated remains. Consider what kind of permanent placement you want when you feel ready to lay your loved one to rest.

Our funeral directors are here to answer your questions about urn burial, scattering, columbarium, and other places of final rest. Simply give us a call at 616-600-0081 when you’re ready to consider your options.

Earlier this month, we gathered together to do something quietly radical, to reclaim the ancient, sacred act of caring for our loved ones after death.
Our Body Care in Death workshop was a space for learning, connection, and empowerment. Participants practiced washing, dressing, anointing, and shrouding, hands-on skills that remind us that death care belongs to all of us, not just funeral professionals.
We believe that community care doesn't end at death, it deepens there. We are honored to be a space where families and caregivers can find the knowledge, confidence, and support to walk this path in their own way.
A heartfelt thank you to Death Midwife Rebecca Lopez Mullins for bringing her wisdom, warmth, and expertise to guide our participants through this meaningful work; and to every single person who showed up with curiosity and an open heart. You made this space something truly special.
We are committed to continuing this work with you by offering monthly presentations designed to de-mystify the deathcare process, answer your questions, and support you and your community every step of the way.
(And our volunteer for our "body" you see in the photos was the beautiful Wren. They are very much alive.)

This Earth Day, we’re reminded that everything comes full circle.
At our funeral home, we see every day how deeply connected we are to each other, to the land, and to the natural rhythms of life and death. Today is a gentle invitation to reflect on how we care not only for those we love, but for the world that holds us all.

Whether it’s choosing more environmentally mindful options, planting something new, or simply spending a quiet moment outdoors, every small act matters.

Wishing our community peaceful and meaningful Earth Day.
