I started this training journey because I knew what it felt like to live one “last straw” away from shutting down. Over the past five years I’ve poured my energy into three body-brain-based tools that now guide every session I lead:

My hands-on education hasn’t happened only in classrooms; it’s happened in muscles, heartbeats, and breath that catches in the throat.

What “Somatic Training” actually is

Somatic Experiencing—beginner through advanced—taught me how impulses live in the body long after the moment has passed. I learned to help nervous systems finish what they couldn’t finish: the step that never got taken, the sound that never got made, the protective gesture that froze mid-air. We do this by slowing the story down to millisecond speed and releasing the tension one small, safe piece at a time, rather than reliving the whole storm at once.

Add to that:
- Extra study with Dr. Peter Levine on dreams and the felt sense, so nightmares and repetitive imagery can be metabolized through the body—not analyzed away.
- NeuroAffective Touch training, which weaves gentle touch into the process for babies, children, or adults whose very first injuries happened before they had words.

These are the attachment wounds that whisper, “I have to earn being held.” We answer with nervous-system level reassurance instead.

How it shows up in regular sessions or classes
Whether we’re unpacking panic attacks or the aftershocks of foster care or chronic emotional overwhelm, SE and NAT aren’t side dishes—they’re the plate. Together they let us:
- Track the flutter in your diaphragm to find the moment your body locked in “freeze,”
- Use hand on the back to teach your system what safe contact feels like, or
- Let a dream replay at 5% speed so the body can complete the motion it never got to finish.

No modality is more important than your own innate capacity to heal; these trainings simply keep that capacity on speed dial.

We had some storms over the last week.

Some of my sunflowers are bowed to the ground, some lean like they’re thinking of lying down, and one stands straight, face open, roots deep.
This is what I remind every client (and myself):

The storm doesn’t ask permission; it simply arrives.

The calm isn’t in stopping the wind—it’s in knowing the stem can bend, the roots can hold, and tomorrow’s bloom still belongs to you.

Wherever you are today—face down, tilted, or steady—come rest in the garden. You’re still growing.
