Black History Month Blues Band Concert

Today was truly a treat for our residents. In celebration of Black History Month, Asamu Johnson & the Associates of the Blues were in the house, entertaining everyone with soulful, uplifting music. The residents absolutely loved every song—feeling the rhythm, dancing along, and enjoying every minute.

Blues music has long provided inspiration and comfort through life’s trials. Originating in the Deep South between the 1860s and early 1900s, the blues developed from African American work songs, spirituals, and field hollers.

Adding to the joy of the day, we celebrated the birthday of one of our cherished residents. The band honored them with a creative, bluesy birthday serenade (please see the video).

It was a wonderful afternoon for all as we came together to celebrate Black History. 🎶✨

Drive-In Movie Night 🎬🚗

We transformed the MediLodge of G.R. Chapel into a nostalgic drive-in movie theater—complete with “cars” and an incredible collection of handmade props! A huge thank-you to the Forest Hills High School Art Class, led by instructor Sara Bouwkamp, and the 3rd/4th grade art class at Forest Hills Pine Ridge Elementary, led by Sarah Bruha-Searle, for sharing their creativity, time, and talent with our residents.

Our amazing MediLodge Activities team also built a 1957 cardboard Chevy Bel Air for residents to sit in during the movie. While time-consuming, it was such a joy to see it come together—and even more fun watching residents pose for photos and really ham it up in the handmade car!

Although this drive-in experience took place indoors, residents truly felt like they were enjoying a night out. They were treated to popcorn, pop, and a variety of candies while watching the classic favorite “Maid in Manhattan,” starring Jennifer Lopez. The laughs and warm moments filled the room—and residents were already asking when we can do it again!

We are so grateful for our creative team, generous partners, and donors who help make moments like these possible. It was truly a great night. 💙

National Activity Professionals Week: January 26–30, 2026

In celebration of National Activity Professionals Week, we couldn’t let this special time pass without giving a heartfelt shout-out to our amazing volunteers and donors who helped make this past year truly unforgettable. Because of you, we were able to create so many fantastic activities for our residents.

One highlight among many: in May, the MediLodge of G.R. team placed 2nd out of 17 teams in the Senior Olympics! Our activities team continually strives to bring creative, new, and fresh ideas each month—always aiming to spark excitement and engagement. We take great pride in our work, and our passion lies in enhancing our residents’ quality of life.

To all our fellow activity professionals, volunteers, and donors—this is our week to be recognized for all that we do and give.
