It’s that special time of year to pause and reflect on all we’re thankful for. Our residents created a beautiful Gratitude Tree — each leaf holding a message of appreciation and love. 🌳💛

Throughout the month, we’ll be reminded of the many blessings that fill our hearts and our home. 🧡

Halloween was a blast at MediLodge of Grand Rapids! Donuts, candy, cider, and so many other goodies were enjoyed, along with music by Elvis. Halloween wouldn’t have been complete without a staff pumpkin decorating contest. Congratulations to nursing staff member Tammy and her "Skilled Care Resident" pumpkin, which took first place. All the pumpkins were fantastic!

National Assisted Living Week is in full swing!

On Day 3, everyone was treated to pancakes and sausages on a stick with syrup. We had a wonderful time identifying some of the most iconic celebrities of our lifetime and discussing how these famous individuals developed their craft over the years while positively influencing the world.

On Day 4, we enjoyed Pop-Tarts and created gratitude cards. Creativity was flowing as we made thoughtful cards for the heroes who enhance our lives every day. It was a perfect opportunity to thank friends, family, volunteers, and care staff who make a positive impact on our lives.

"Gratitude is when memory is stored in the heart and not in the mind."

Speaking of gratitude, we feel truly blessed to have outstanding volunteers—Amanda Crowe-O'Keefe, Jayne Chase, and Cecelia Batungbacal—who have generously shared their time and talents to make this past week so meaningful for our residents and staff at MediLodge of Grand Rapids. Thank you so very much, ladies!

🌿 Assisted Living Week Celebration – Day 2

Our second day of National Assisted Living Week focused on the theme of endurance and resilience — standing strong through life’s storms. Residents came together to paint rocks and stones, each symbolizing the things that give us strength, hope, encouragement, and warmth.

As we reflected, we were reminded:

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘮 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘦.

We are celebrating National Assisted Living Week! 🎉 To kick off the celebration on Monday, the assisted living community at MediLodge of Grand Rapids came together to pool our resources, talents, and visions to create a large wall mural. This collaborative effort showcased true teamwork, as everyone contributed to making the beautiful fall artwork that now welcomes residents and visitors into the dining room. It was a wonderful experience, made even sweeter by breakfast goodies, coffee, and tea that helped set the festive spirit for the week. 🍁☕🥐

As the week continues, we are inviting votes for the 2025 Assisted Living Resident Citizen of the Year and the 2025 Assisted Living Staff Hero. These two prestigious awards will be presented on Friday, concluding the week’s celebration. 🏆

National Assisted Living Week honors assisted living residents and their caregivers by highlighting their personal journeys and celebrating the experiences that enrich their lives. 💛

A special thank you goes to our dedicated volunteer, Jayne Chase, for her invaluable help in making this mural project possible. 🙏

The weather turned beautiful, just long enough for our trip north. A special thank you to the Grant Depot Restaurant for cutting costs on the delicious lunch & drinks for our group & giving such friendly service. It was a spectacular afternoon together & the colors were amazing!

I Spy Something Orange
Our resident sleuths jumped into action on a thrilling hunt for the color orange, racing against each other to spot every single orange item on the list. With only sharp eyes and quick wits needed to win, the competition was fierce and full of fun! These clever spies showed they could stay cool under pressure and were totally dedicated to cracking the case.
