Thompson, The Thompson Institute began as a Mental Health and Substance Abuse counseling agency serving Greater Lansing’s adult and adolescent populations. During that time, The Thompson Institute earned major contracts from some of the largest and well known Human and Social Service Organization’s statewide including Community Mental Health, Ingham County’s 54th-A and 54-B courts, Probate courts as well as Adoption Subsidy’s for the State of Michigan. In 1997, The Thompson Institute expanded its services to the it’s originators home city of Grand Rapids MI, contracting with the 17th Circuit court and the Grand Rapids Public School System with an office located downtown (Monroe St). In 2011, The Thompson Institute once again opened its doors to the Grand Rapids Area’s substance abuse population, providing Group Therapy, Individual Counseling and Drug Monitoring. As a leader in this field The Thompson Institute aims to curve the rate of drug use and addiction among all people but especially the African-American population.

Our Story

Established in 1994 by Robert B. Thompson, The Thompson Institute began as a Mental Health and Substance Abuse counseling agency serving Greater Lansing’s adult and adolescent populations.
