Why You Should Cover Your Neck in Cold Weather: A Lesson from Chinese Medicine

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the back of your neck is considered a vulnerable entry point for external pathogens, especially cold and wind. This area, referred to as the "Wind Gate," is where the body is most susceptible to environmental influences. According to TCM, exposure to cold wind can disrupt the body's Qi (vital energy) and lead to imbalances that manifest as colds, flu, or stiffness in the neck and shoulders.

Covering your neck with a scarf or high-collared clothing acts as a protective barrier, helping to maintain warmth and safeguard your health. This simple practice is especially important during colder months or when the weather is windy, as it helps keep your body’s internal balance intact. Please take Pablo's good example.

If you're curious about how TCM can help you stay healthy this winter or want personalized advice on improving your overall well-being, we invite you to schedule an appointment with Vida Acupuncture. Our experienced practitioners are here to guide you through the wisdom of TCM and help you feel your best year-round. Contact us today to book your session!
