⭐This year marks 🔟 years of healing, hope, and fun at the Children’s Healing Center — and we’re celebrating the journey with a Throwback Thursday highlight!

Every week, we’re spotlighting a different year in our story — and this week, we’re looking back at 2016, our first full year of fun and connection!

👟In 2016, we hit our stride! We hosted our first Spring and Summer Break camps, welcomed lots of special visitors who brought smiles and surprises, and hosted our first birthday party. We gave our outdoor space a fresh new look with a garden renovation, making it even more inviting for kids and families to explore and enjoy. We also kicked off our partnership with West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc., launching a meaningful connection that continues to support our mission to this day.🥳

From new programs to powerful partnerships, 2016 was a year of momentum — and a reminder that healing happens best when we grow together. 💜

🚨 What. A. Week! 🚒💙 The Southeast Michigan Center's Everyday Heroes Summer Camp was nothing short of EPIC! We welcomed real-life heroes from a local fire department, the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office, Emergent Health Partners (HVA), and Kids Kicking Cancer. 🙌

From climbing inside emergency vehicles 🚓 to putting out pretend fires with Nerf blasters 🔫, creating our own first aid kits 🩹, and learning calming breaths and mindfulness 🧘—our campers had hands-on fun while learning to be brave and strong inside and out!

Huge thank you to our visiting heroes—you helped make last week unforgettable! 💪👨‍🚒👮‍♀️👩‍⚕️

What an incredible night! Last Monday West Michigan held our annual Car Show at the Grand Rapids Center and had over 65 cars and trucks on site for our members to see! We are so grateful to the many community partners who came together to provide such a memorable evening for families.

A big thank you to Ryan Clinkscales, Doug Fasburg, Grand Valley Corvette Association, Tom DeVette and all that came out and brought cars!

⭐This year marks 🔟 years of healing, hope, and play at the Children’s Healing Center — and we’re celebrating the journey with a Throwback Thursday highlight!

Every week, we’ll spotlight a different year in our story, beginning with the one that started it all: 2015.

In 2015, the Children's Healing Center opened its doors in Grand Rapids, becoming the first year-round recreational center in the nation for children with weakened immune systems and their families.

💙In 2015 we renovated our first home in Grand Rapids on Fulton St., welcomed St. Thomas students who surrounded our building in a prayer circle, smiled over a Red Rover ribbon cutting, celebrated exceeding our capital campaign goal, welcomed our first families, and had our first programs including Winter Break camps!💙

From day one, the Center was more than a building. It was a community. A safe, vibrant space where kids, young adults and their families come to laugh, learn, play and heal together.

About us

Children’s Healing Center exists to break down barriers of isolation for kids with weak immune systems. We bring back childhood with fun programing and opportunities to socialize and engage with their peers. Our 7,000 square-foot facility is designed to provide as close to a germ-free environment as possible.

The Children’s Healing Center fills an essential gap in the continuum of healthcare and complements children’s services already available in Grand Rapids. The Center works in conjunction with local businesses, colleges and universities, medical centers and other nonprofits to create holistic services for sick kids.

The traditional services of medical treatment, housing, support groups and family resources is made complete by the Children’s Healing Center which provides essential recreation, education and social interaction.
