Our members possess a thorough understanding of the Grand Rapids culture and environment. They maintain relationships not only linking our history, but our business, philanthropic and civic endeavors. Championing a vision of growth for the health science industry and its economic success is reflected in our values and commitment to our community. We subscribe to the principles and practices of The Right Place as a model that has exceeded expectations in its positive impact on the Grand Rapids community. We will benefit from the collaborative mentoring of The Right Place as we develop. The West Michigan Strategic Alliance (WMSA) falls within the guidance of The Right Place, and encompasses a broad spectrum of interest that extends beyond the life sciences industry. We accept the responsibility of serving as a vigorous advocate in the expansion of the life sciences industry in our community. It is a priority to build relationships with health providers and all “Medical Mile” participants. As innovators committed to action, we will serve as an ongoing catalyst for cohesive, strategic change. We will raise public awareness that the “Medical Mile” theme holds far greater significance and promise than its local perception as a geographic label representing a stretch of street and a hill. The talent, resources and intellect that are the substance of the Medical Mile represent a new avenue to promote and further the identity of greater Grand Rapids as a center of innovation and prosperity. We support a lateral connection and resource assistance, if needed, to the West Michigan Science and Technology Initiative (WMSTI). The demand for resources to aid the medical device industry continues to grow. We will act as a resource to educational health sciences outreach programs at the university level and are committed to supporting their development efforts. We will continue to mentor and make recommendations to the Medical Mile Group and assist with expanding membership. We will provide direction in accreditation efforts according to their membership rules and a universal evidenced based
The Advisory Board cherishes knowledge that is legacy; preserves the best of cultural, social and political heritages; and encourages meaningful research and experimentation to develop new knowledge. Being that industry in general are the key contributor to Economic & Healthcare Policy, entrepreneurs must play vital roles in this process by leveraging their sophisticated business skills and global networks of the private sector to solve healthcare problems in the public sector.” Progress and the sustainability of any social economic movement is dependent upon this fact.
