Midwifery is a tradition built on trust. Women should be nurtured, respected, and supported in their choices throughout their pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum period. I am so full of gratitude for my dear friend and midwife, Kristine Lauria. Kristine has spent much of her life serving women around the world. She has walked with mothers through breech births, triplets, and in refugee camps where resources are scarce. When it came time for my daughter’s birth, Kristine stepped into the role of midwife with the same wisdom, steadiness, and gentleness that she carries everywhere she goes.

Kristine was there to help hold me up and help pick up the pieces when my teacher and friend, Rebekah Knapp, passed away. Our friendship was formed in a season of grief and sadness but has grown into something so happy and beautiful. To have her hold us now in this time of sweetness and growth for my family felt so right.

Her care for my daughter in labor was so beautiful to witness, and to see my grandson welcomed into the world by her hands and his father’s, is something I will always treasure. Kristine, thank you for blessing us with your presence, your wisdom, and your joy. You are a gift to all who know you, and we are so grateful.

Our hearts are overflowing.

I have witnessed many births in my years as a midwife, but nothing could have prepared my heart for the privilege of being present at my own daughter’s home birth, and watching her birth my sweet grandson.

She dreamed of a waterbirth, and we had everything ready. But as birth so often does, her story unfolded in its own way. Baby had other plans, and with her strength, determination, and God’s perfect timing, he came swiftly and beautifully, right there on the bathroom floor. A moment unexpected but absolutely perfect.

To see her bring my grandson into the world, right where she felt safe and supported, is a memory etched into my mind forever.

Afterward, I had the honor of staying with her in those early postpartum days, not as her midwife, but as her mom. To cook for her, care for her, and tend to her as she recovered and learned her new baby. Those quiet hours holding my grandson, watching her rest, and witnessing the bond of a new little family forming were truly a blessing.

There are no words big enough for this kind of joy. Just gratitude. Gratitude for her courage, for God’s goodness, and for the gift of a new little life to love.

Our hearts are overflowing as we announce the arrival of Asa Alexander Aitken. 🤍

This sweet boy made his way earthside into the arms of his mama, Molly’s daughter — making this birth extra special for our Heart to Heart family. Welcoming babies is always an honor, but when it’s one of our own, the joy feels even greater.

Celebrating 4 Years with Trish!

Four years ago, Trish officially joined our Heart to Heart team, though she’s really been part of our story for even longer. After welcoming her third baby with us, she felt called to step in and help however she could—and we can’t imagine our team without her now.

Trish is a Certified Phlebotomist with years of experience, but what we love most about her is the way she cares for people. She has such a gentle, reassuring presence, whether she’s drawing labs, answering questions, or simply sitting with a mama who needs a little extra support. She makes every person feel comfortable and cared for, and that’s a gift.

Trish, we are so grateful for you—for your heart, your faith, and the way you show up for our families and our team. Thank you for four wonderful years—we couldn’t do this without you!

This past weekend, our team finally took a little time to rest — something much needed after a whirlwind stretch from August 8th to September 11th. We welcomed 7 beautiful babies earthside: 5 boys and 2 girls.

In August we drove 1,500 miles and another 365 so far in September.
