AAP President Dr. Susan J. Kressly responds to the recent changes on the CDC’s website - “The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website has been changed to promote false information suggesting vaccines cause autism. Since 1998, independent researchers across seven countries have conducted more than 40 high-quality studies involving over 5.6 million people. The conclusion is clear and unambiguous: There’s no link between vaccines and autism. Anyone repeating this harmful myth is misinformed or intentionally trying to mislead parents.

We call on the CDC to stop wasting government resources to amplify false claims that sow doubt in one of the best tools we have to keep children healthy and thriving: routine immunizations. The American Academy of Pediatrics stands with members of the autism community who have asked for support in stopping this rumor from spreading any further."

ByHeart recalls all their infant formulas as of today. Stop using any products you have immediately and monitor for symptoms of infant botulism, which include facial weakness, swallowing difficulty, head/neck weakness, and/or poor feeding.

In response to a broader FDA investigation of infant botulism in babies across the U.S, and out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to initiate a voluntary recall of two batches of ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula.

There is a formula recall for ByHeart for possible contamination with the bacteria that causes infant botulism. Michigan has not been listed however it may have been sold here depending on where you purchased it. If your child drank any of the lots included, monitor for poor feeding, neck weakness, difficulty sucking/ swallowing, a weak cry or decreased facial expressions. Symptoms can take several weeks to develop after ingesting the spores.

WHAT THIS GAP MEANS FOR SNAP RECIPIENTS:
If you currently have funds on your EBT card, you can continue using them; however, unused benefits over 9 months old will be eliminated from the available balance
MDDHS will continue processing applications, renewals, and case changes.
Check MI Bridges for updates that will be posted there as things change.
