I’m attending the West Michigan Health Network meeting this morning for ComForCare Home Care. Today the Executive Director of Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan, Kendrick Heinlein, is here presenting on Aging in Place in the 9 counties of Area 8.

Leadership Award 2025

The Leadership Award goes to someone who leads—not just in their home care business, but across their entire community.

True leadership is about action, dedication, and selflessly providing the best possible care for clients, caregivers, and the community alike.

Tonight’s recipient is a shining example.

He’s certified in Matter of Balance, Dementia Wise, and the Parkinson’s Disease Pathway,
and is a proud Parkinson’s Foundation Community Partner.

An early adopter of Connected Care and the driving force behind a thriving on-site program, he brings expertise and impact wherever he goes.

You’ll find him at local health fairs, fundraisers, and community events - always present and fully engaged—because to him, leadership is about showing up and being actively involved.

He serves as Vice-Chair of the Chamber of Commerce, has contributed to the Caregiver First Committee, and currently serves on both the Marketing Advisory Committee and the Franchisee Advisory Committee.

As he often reminds us, “The biggest human temptation is to settle for too little.”

He lives by this every day—pushing himself and those around him to aim higher, achieve more, and never settle.

He inspires not by title, but by example. He shows up. He does the work. He leads with heart, with passion, and with unwavering commitment.

Leadership is action, not a position.

I’m representing ComForCare Home Care today attending a Senior Community Resources event with GR Savvy Seniors. If you haven’t seen Disability Advocates’ adaptive space yet, you should check it out. I’ve slowly been incorporating things I’ve seen in use here in my own home in preparation for aging in place.
