Conscientious young black men are said to be uncommon in our society today, but even rarer, are respected African American leaders like Tahjudeen Gillespie.He’s Black, he’s a Muslim, he's a Restorative Justice Specialist, he’s a Social Awareness Advocate, he’s a Community Activist, he’s a Empowerment Speaker and he’s a Ex-Felon, Tahjudeen has an incredible and sincere passion that has and continues to touch numerous boys and young men of color throughout the country through his mentoring initiative: “From Blocks 2 Boardrooms- Teach a life, save a life. Experience is what keeps us connected.” From Blocks 2 Boardrooms primary focus is helping, empowering, and encouraging at risk boys and young men of color that are on the border of the school to prison pipeline, to compete with the best them. The organization is designed to educate, motivate, and empower boys and young men of color that are considered “DISENFRANCHISED” by offering them educational support(Diploma/GED,Skill Trade,College) through economic empowerment, leadership, team building, life skills, volunteerism, financial literacy and manners(etiquettes). The organization is looking to partner with those involved in the “Second Chance Act” to offer family support with those with incarcerated parents and/or children to minimize repeat offending. It truly takes a village to make an impacting change in our society. From Blocks 2 Boardrooms also offers family support for those boys and young men of color that are attracted to the street life, or have no family structure, we offer them an alternative to gang life, incarceration, and the death lifestyle.

“Verily, with Allah, there are levels that cannot be attained except with patience at times of trial, and gratitude at times of prosperity.”

[As-Sabr wa ath-Thawab | Al-Hafiz ibn Abi Al-Dunya | d. 281H]

This is on the spiritual journey of a believer, highlighting that true closeness to Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) the higher levels of nearness, love, and reward aren’t reached by ease alone. They are earned through two key states of the heart:

1️⃣ Patience in Trials (Sabr `inda al-bala’):
Life is filled with hardships, loss, pain, and uncertainty. These are not punishments, but tests. When one meets them with patience, not just passive endurance, but active trust in Allah’s wisdom that person climbs spiritually. This patience polishes the soul, breaks pride, and roots a person more firmly in faith.

2️⃣ Gratitude in Prosperity (Shukr `inda an-ni‘ma):
Ease and blessings are also tests. Will you remember the Giver or get lost in the gift? Gratitude means recognizing that everything good comes from Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) and using it to please Him. It’s a sign of humility and love. A grateful heart is full, content, and deeply aware of divine generosity.

‼️Together, patience and gratitude are like wings. We need both to rise. Patience anchors us during storms; gratitude lifts us in the sunshine. And with them, Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) opens doors to spiritual heights that would otherwise remain locked 🔒.

Alhamduillah as we enter the last 3rd of Ramadan we should seek the expiation of the hellfire in these last 10 days of Ramadan… We must make a lot of dua 🤲🏾🥹… Cry 😢 to Allah ta Ala knowing that only by HIS mercy we escape the hellfire 🔥… I want my son to know that worshipping Allah Ta Ala is our most important task in this life as men… I love ❤️ what Allah ta Ala has for me, I am truly grateful 🥲. He has shown me and gave me more than I am worthy of…. I ask myself sometimes “Allah, how can you love me like this?” I know I am a fallible creation… That makes mistakes, and have shortcomings… I pray 🤲🏾 that He is pleased with me, and allows me to continue to correct my ways that He’s not pleased with… Ya Allah, protect us during these times of need, and guide us in these times of heedlessness. Ameen 🤲🏾

Alhamduillah we have made it to see another beautiful month of Ramadan 1446/2025 May Allah ta Ala allow us to benefit from this blessed month. Reminding myself of the first 10 days of forgiveness! I am seeking the forgiveness of Allah ta Ala for all of shortcomings and wrong doings! And if I have offended any one of you, knowingly or unknowingly please forgive me. As strive to be a better human being during this month, and throughout this year. Duas are up… It’s our chance to clean our slate… Thanks Allah for allowing me to see it again…. 🤲🏾🤲🏾🤲🏾☪️☪️☪️🌎🌎🌎

You can’t tell me, I don’t know how to recycle ♻️ fits… I wore it today, and they act like I just got it from my designer 🧑‍🎨 Dubai… Naw Ahk, I got these from USArabia in Somali Village in Clarkston… And I still shop there in 2024… Alhamdulillah we set the trends, we don’t follow them…

Our Story

From Blocks 2 Boardroom’s has developed the R.A.P.S © Initiative. In which is a leadership and mentorship program based out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The R.A.P.S© Initiative offers mentoring and academic support through a Urban Curriculum to students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grade through teaching RESPONSIBILITY, ACCOUNTABILITY and PRODUCTIVIITY, which in turn, produces SUCCESS! The R.A.P.S© Initiative will be launching its first “pilot” program January, 2014 and will continue through April 2014. Meeting times are, after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students, who are chosen to be a part of the pilot, will actively work on improving their leadership skills, grades, life skills and overall behavior. The From Blocks 2 Boardrooms R.A.P.S© Initiative, will address the disciplinary issues and lack of focus in students. The pilot offers students the opportunity to address these issues through academic support and mentoring. In the areas of academic support, students will be offered tutoring in the subjects of math and reading comprehension. Through the mentorship program, students will be offered support through Impact Counseling and Consulting Services© in the areas of behavior modification. Each participant in the program will have a PIP (personal improvement plan). This PIP, will offer the students support in the areas they are struggling in academically and socially. Every participant in the program will have their progress tracked over the 12 weeks. The mentors and tutors of The R.A.P.S© Initiative pilot launch are committed to building lifelong relationships with the students while making a positive lifelong impact on their lives and providing a positive role model.
