Every woman’s menopause journey is unique—and every story matters. 💜
This Menopause Awareness Month, we celebrated two women who are rewriting what it means to navigate midlife with mindfulness, as well as the remarkable women who are amplifying their stories.

Their stories remind us: when you understand your body, you can take charge of your future.

Menopause Awareness Month gives the chance to lift up women and remind us that menopause is something you can prepare for.

Earlier this morning, Dr. Celia Egan shared something with Janice Allen FOX 17 that many women feel but rarely hear explained: menopause isn’t only a hormonal transition — it’s a metabolic one.

She explained that as estrogen declines, the body naturally becomes more insulin-resistant. That can show up as:

- Blood sugar rising more easily
- Loss of muscle mass
- More fat shifting to the midsection
- A slower metabolism, even if your weight hasn’t changed

None of this means you’re doing anything wrong! These shifts are normal — and they’re manageable once you understand what’s happening. And one of the most important things you can do in midlife is to get your blood sugar checked and start prioritizing strength training to protect your muscle mass.

When Tammy Myers was diagnosed with breast cancer at 33, she had no family history and no known risk factors—just a fierce determination to live.

After beating cancer and welcoming twins through a gestational carrier, Tammy made national headlines for her fight to change Michigan’s surrogacy laws—a fight that finally succeeded this spring.

Behind the scenes, Tammy faced another challenge: early menopause. “For many years, I just suffered in silence,” she shared with Janice Allen FOX 17. Like many breast cancer survivors, Tammy was told that hormones were the enemy. But with help from Dr. Diana Bitner and the team at true., she discovered safe, effective treatment options—including vaginal estrogen and non-hormonal medications—to manage symptoms and reclaim her quality of life.

Now 44, Tammy is 11 years cancer-free and helping others navigate their own midlife transitions! We’re so proud of her!

We are honored to be mentioned in a recent West Michigan Woman article by Sarah Suydam, “Why Women’s Concierge Medicine Practices Are Growing” — and proud to see Dr. Diana Bitner's quote about what true. was built to be.

- “Everything should feel special and personal … we built true to help women have the knowledge and support to feel their best and be able to age with good health.”

So many women feel rushed or unheard in their medical care. It’s encouraging to see a local publication like West Michigan Woman spreading the word about concierge practices built on depth, dignity, and comprehensive support.
