Warmer weather often means more patio nights, golf outings, BBQs, and vacations. And for many women, more alcohol.

But alcohol can impact women differently than many realize, especially in midlife. It can affect sleep, mood, weight, hot flashes, anxiety, bladder symptoms, and even increase certain health risks.

Coming up this Wednesday on FOX 17, Dr. Diana Bitner will be sharing what women need to know about alcohol and their health. Springtime is a great time to check in with your habits, your goals, and how alcohol may be affecting the way you feel.

Catch the segment on Wednesday mornings between 7 and 7:30 AM!

Infertility is more common, and more complex, than many people realize.

During Fertility Awareness Month, Dr. Diana Bitner joined Janice Allen FOX 17 on FOX 17 to shed light on what fertility really means and why it should be viewed through a lens of factors, not fault.

Roughly 1 in 6 people worldwide experience infertility, yet many go without care. Fertility is influenced by a wide range of factors (for both women and men) including metabolic health, hormones, stress, thyroid function, reproductive anatomy, and lifestyle habits.

If you’re hoping to grow your family and not getting the answers you need, don’t wait. Start the conversation with your provider and know that fertility specialists can offer more options than ever before. With growing awareness and expanding insurance coverage, support is more accessible than it’s been in the past.

You don’t have to navigate this alone! Watch the segment here:

Dr. Diana Bitner joins us to talk about fertility issues for men and women, and how taking a "factors" not "fault" mindset can make a difference.

You’re not imagining it. Alcohol can hit differently in midlife.

Beyond a typical hangover, alcohol can also affect your emotional well-being. What’s often called “hangxiety” can show up as brain fog, anxiety, and irritability—symptoms that can already be more common during menopause.

So what felt like a way to relax and unwind can sometimes intensify those same symptoms the next day. April is Alcohol Awareness Month, making it a good time to pause and reflect: How is alcohol affecting you in this phase of life?

If you’ve noticed changes, bring them up at your next appointment. It’s a conversation worth having.

Alcohol can make you feel anxious or irritable the next day. We asked experts what causes this — and how to manage it.

Dr. Diana Bitner was on FOX 17 with Janice Allen FOX 17 yesterday to talk about the importance of speaking openly during Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Sexual assault is more common than many realize, affecting 1 in 5 women, often perpetrated by someone they know. The impact of s*xual assault can last for years, often showing up as physical and emotional symptoms long after the experience. Many women may experience the effects of the trauma during perimenopause.

As Dr. Bitner says, "Those past events don't deserve more power. It is not your fault!" Let’s continue to create space for honest dialogue, education, and compassion. If you have been the victim of s*xual violence, please seek help.Help is available through the National Sexual Assault Hotline (RAINN) at 800-656-HOPE or at https://bit.ly/3NNlaUc

Cortisol has gotten a bad reputation lately, but here’s the truth: it’s not your enemy.

Dr. Bitner shared shared some insight yesterday on Fox 17: cortisol is your body’s way of helping you respond to life. The goal isn’t to eliminate stress, it's to support your body so it can handle it well.

Cortisol is getting viral attention online, and while it can help to monitor it, it's not your enemy. Dr. Diana Bitner shares why you should treat it like your body's built-in gas pedal.

Why am I awake right now… again?
If this question feels familiar, you’re not alone!
Hormonal changes during midlife can make it harder to fall asleep and stay asleep.

A few simple habits can help support better sleep!
• Keep a consistent sleep schedule
• Practice gratitude journaling to calm the mind
• Focus on nourishing, balanced meals
• Try metered breathing before bed

For some women, hormone therapy can also improve sleep quality. It also can support mood, brain health, and your s*xual health.

Struggling with sleep?
Let’s talk about what’s going on and what might be a helpful option for you! https://bit.ly/3PcHLrj

No one ever really told women this would happen.

Not when desire changes, not when intimacy feels different, and definitely not when something that used to feel natural suddenly just doesn’t anymore.

For decades, women were told this was "just part of getting older". We’re happy to say that conversation is finally changing! New research and medical advancements are reshaping how we understand s*xual health in midlife.

✅ Treatments for low libido are expanding (even for postmenopausal women!)
✅ Hormone therapy is being used more thoughtfully and effectively, with a lot less fear
✅ We now know changes often begin earlier, during perimenopause
✅ And most importantly, there are options!

Sexual health is not just about hormones. It’s connected to your entire body. Your brain, your metabolic health, your nervous system, your sense of SELF. It’s worth paying attention to. Midlife isn’t the end of anything. It could be the beginning of a new chapter!

So, save the date and join Dr. Bitner and Dr. Egan for an honest, judgment-free conversation about s*x in midlife. Wednesday, April 15th at 7 PM ET. And please bring your questions!
