Taught yoga outside last night thanks to Darcel Smith and Amy Trefry Kwaiser for GR Parks and Rec. 💗 I have only taught one other yoga class in almost a year of stepping away from my last yoga job. 😢 Sharing because students always ask —where else are you???? I may be the Where’s Waldo of fitness. 😆
(I regularly still teach barre and dance FYI)

It felt so good. 😊 Saw some former students and friends, met a few new ones too. In true yoga fashion, had a bystander (she was at the park watching her kiddo at football practice) inquire about the class. She had no idea about GR Parks and Rec outdoor programming. 😮
There is still time to take a free outside class this summer in case you have not heard. Also, I will be on the schedule teaching yoga AND barre for Parks & Rec in the fall. Yay!😃

I have zero plans to ever stop teaching completely, but sometimes you have to adjust to accommodate your life changes. If you are interested in what I am up to regarding yoga or other classes, drop a line. I have been told a few times my voice/vibe is super calming. 😂 ☺️☺️ It is I swear (mostly). I still need to add “recorded yoga meditations” to the resume. Someday manifesting. May it be so. (Is swearing meditation popular?)

If you are still reading, this is my why. It is my community, my 💝, my passion, my drive. My personal compass 🧭 which has kept me going through all of life’s many challenges. I am grateful for all who have played a part in helping me continue to do it. You just never know who is willing to walk beside you on your journey or lend a hand to help you get there. Kritajna 🙏🏼 Dhayna Va

Thank you Dore Shaw for your kind words and Georgianna Poulos for being a familiar face. 😍

Soooo teaching dance fitness is hard, fun, sweaty, then some hard again, but oh so fun if you love music like I do. I mean I was never good at math or other useful things so here I am…

I was so nervous today to teach one of my favorite 50 cent songs because when you teach dance fitness—- music is so….personal. It is personal which means people have their likes and their not likes. I try really hard to take this into consideration when choosing music.

My point is, when you are nervous (like I often am), but you want to do big things and share your passion/love with people. I have to keep reminding myself and maybe ONE of you needs this reminder today too. ❤️

1)TRUST your instincts.
2)Learn to trust your gut. Not someone else’s.
3)The little whisper inside of you is your power. If you are a spiritual person it may even be your higher power guiding you. You can try to silence this voice, but it will often get louder if you do.

Dance often includes controversial music or lyrics. It is like any art form. It can be beautiful or gritty or harsh or soft or sweet. It can be so many things, but mostly it is personal.

Having a sweet girl who stood right in front tell me to my face that she LOVED 🥰 the 50 cent song literally made me feel like I had died and gone to dance heaven. I am serious. If I left ThAT particular song out because I was too scared or shy or worried, I would not have made a new dance soul sister. Seeing her dance and love it like I do was the sweetest joy..

This is why I teach. Because life like art (especially this time of year) is beautiful and soft, but also gritty, sad or hard for some. Dance/movement allows us to come together to just be happy for a moment.

If you are curious about dance or any fitness, reach out. We always love more people to share it with. If you love 50 cent or need more joy in your life, I may know someone… 😏 😘

Here is a video I recorded for the structure of a vinyasa yoga style class. I do not teach only vinyasa yoga, but this is a good place to start if you are curious. I show yoga blocks at the beginning, but only use them a little. (teaching mostly to young college kids in the video) Even young people sometimes have a hard time reaching to the ground so feel free to use your blocks, a counter or even a chair at the front of your mat if you have a harder time going from up to down repeatedly. Do what you can in the body you have today and who knows maybe with regular practice you will see an ease and steadiness.

IF you are tired and just want a few stretches, fast forward to the end and do only those. 😘🙏✌️🤚
