We have an exciting opportunity to strengthen and expand United Way 211 throughout Minnesota and we need you! Your support may help secure legislative funding to expand 211’s impact across the state.



How You Can Help This Week:

An informative 1-page summary of our work is attached to this email if you’d like to add something.



Our goal is to get a legislative hearing for our bill. If you might be willing to testify in person or sign on to a letter of support for a future hearing, your voice would be incredibly valuable. If you’re open to that opportunity, let me know!

Tuesday, February 11, is National 211 Day.

To celebrate 211 Day, you need only spread the word and educate your family, friends, and community.

211 is a free, confidential, 24-hour information and referral hotline linking people with health and human resource services.

Last year, over 100,000 connections to the hotline were made to help resolve immediate and long-term challenges.

When Minnesota residents call 2-1-1, they are connected to a community resource specialist, who is ready to help find local information on health and mental health resources, health insurance, support programs for older Americans, veterans, and people with disabilities, home health care, legal resources and more.

Native American Veterans

American Indians have eagerly served a government that did not always keep its word to their ancestors. They have volunteered to serve in conflicts from World War II to Iraq. Few encountered any overt prejudice while in uniform, but for all American Indian veterans, the honor of defending their country overrode all other considerations.
