This quote hits hard because for a lot of people… it’s not dramatic. It’s true.

Healing isn’t always peaceful in the way people expect.
Sometimes it looks like grief.
Sometimes it looks like anger.
Sometimes it looks like realizing that parts of you you’ve relied on for years were actually built around survival.

That doesn’t mean those parts were bad.
It means they were protective.

And when therapy starts helping you see that more clearly, it can feel disorienting before it feels freeing.

Sometimes your body notices before your thoughts catch up.

The tight chest.
The sinking feeling.
The tension after a conversation.
The exhaustion you can’t quite explain.

It can be easy to dismiss those signals or talk yourself out of them.

But often, your body is responding to something real, even if your mind is still trying to make sense of it.

Not every truth arrives in words first.
