Clark Retirement Community

Clark Retirement Community Offering quality senior living, freedom from the responsibilities of home maintenance, and the security of an on-site continuum of care.

Clark was founded in 1906 through a generous donation by Melvin and Emily Clark. We started as a home for retired Methodist ministers. Over the years, we’ve grown and evolved, but delivering compassionate care to our residents remains core to who we are. Today, Clark is an ecumenical community, welcoming people from all walks of life and all faith backgrounds. We are a nonprofit Life Plan Community and home to nearly 500 residents. We employ over 400 people committed to serving older adults.

Residents at Keller Lake stepped into an evening of mystery, intrigue, and Italian flair… 🍷🔍

What began as the grand opening of a new upscale Italian restaurant quickly took a dramatic turn when the chef of a rival restaurant was found murdered… and suddenly, everyone became a suspect.

Residents had a blast stepping into character, following clues, and working together to crack the case. Between the laughter, the twists, and the delicious meal, it was a night to remember.

Safe to say—mystery solved and a great time had by all 👀🍝

A very special thank you to our friends at Morrison for the fabulous food!

There’s something truly special about a room filled with books, laughter, and connection. 📚💛

We had the delight of welcoming our favorite students from Wealthy Elementary for a visit with our residents—and the energy was contagious!

Pairs of young readers and residents spent time sharing stories, practicing reading, and enjoying meaningful conversation across generations. It was one of those simple, beautiful moments that reminds us how powerful connection can be.

We’re so grateful for partnerships like this that bring joy, learning, and community spirit right through our doors. ✨

We can’t wait for the next visit!

Downsizing in retirement isn’t just about moving into a smaller space—it’s about gaining a simpler, more intentional lifestyle. 🏡✨

A recent Crain’s Grand Rapids article highlights how seniors are choosing to simplify life so they can focus more on what matters most: comfort, connection, and peace of mind.

At our community, we see this every day—residents discovering how much easier life can feel with maintenance-free living, supportive services, and a vibrant community right outside their door.

If you or a loved one are exploring what this next chapter could look like, we’re here to help make the transition feel easy and welcoming.

Simplify your space. Expand your life. 💛

We had some very special visitors! 🐾💚

Thank you to the team from Blandford Nature Center for bringing a few of their incredible animal ambassadors right to our community. Residents had the chance to get up close, learn about each animal, and share in the joy that only nature can bring.

There were plenty of smiles, lots of great questions, and a few moments of pure wonder—proving that connection to the natural world never gets old.

Days like this remind us how meaningful new experiences can be, especially when they come with a little fur, feathers, or scales.

Which animal would you be most excited to meet? 🦉🐢

There’s something special about trying something new. 🌿🔥

Today, our residents stepped into the teaching kitchen alongside a talented chef for a hands-on culinary experience, and let’s just say… grilled lettuce was the star of the show!

Between the laughter and learning, it was a beautiful reminder that curiosity doesn’t retire. Experiences like these bring people together, spark creativity, and keep life deliciously exciting.

Would you try grilled lettuce? 👀

Who says learning stops with age? 🦕

Our memory care residents had an incredible hands-on experience thanks to the Grand Rapids Public Museum, who brought fossils right to them! From fascinating ammonite spirals to ancient treasures, the room was full of curiosity, conversation, and smiles.

Safe to say… these fossils were a hit!
